Night Trap.

Oh good lord, Night Trap...
While I'm certainly not going to argue that Night Trap is anything but wretchedly awful, it's not really an example of the uncanny valley (which if you read the entire OP you'll see is the reason they want examples of terrible cutscenes). An example of staggeringly bad acting yes, but not the uncanny valley, as those cutscenes were live action.
I stand corrected.

it's live action however it will suffice
LMAO. I can't watch that without laughing. Can you believe they thought THAT was the future of video games? The acting was so bad it was scarier than the monsters. And what was up with the character introduction after the scene? It was like they were doing the intro for a sitcom. *ties bandana and then smiles at camera*

mass effect two, anything even slightly inuendo ish makes shepard smile in such a way as to make me wonder what the fuck is wrong with him. makes the entire scene horrible.

There is a really uncanny bit about halfway through Indigo Prohecy (or Farenheit; the title depends on what localization you are playing). The protagonist has to talk to an old woman for information.

Most of the characters are reasonabley well-animated, but her? Eek. Apparently, the designers forgot to animate any part of her body except for her mouth. Then you have to push her around in her wheelchair for a bit, and during that segment the camera is nailed to the ceiling. My description does this scene no justice. It is supposed to be eerie and dramatic, but I laughed my way through it.

Actually, she turns out to be a holographic illusion or something towards the end of the game, so maybe it was intentional. I think that's being too optimistic, though.

Nearly anything belonging to the Gears of War franchise. I like the games, but the characters alone pretty much live in the uncanny valley - just look at their unnatural body mass, shape, muscle, jaw, and all the rest of it. If you want an example of painful voice acting, just listen to Dom wail on about his wife.

For a twist on your project, consider Bioshock. The game intentially steps into the uncanny valley and it unsettles the player. Instead of looking derivitave and out of place, it only adds to the immersion. Splicers are meant to look fucked up, grotesque and not all that human. You can even draw the uncanny valley with three central characters. The big daddy - the start of the curve. Not human at all but enough human characteristics to make it appealing despite its very menacing groans and overall appearance. Most people love the big daddies. The dip in the middle - the splicers. The human but not quite human characters that repulse the player; you do not feel bad in pulling the trigger because they disgust you. They were human, but not any more and it shows in their appearance, their voices, and their mannerisms. And finally the little sisters. The only characters really resembling an actual human - even with the slug in them, they still pull us way up out of the valley again, even more so if you save them and they look fully human again.

What I'm wondering is the relevance of the material to your topic. "Uncanny Valley" is a perceptive effect based on our idea of what is and isn't 'lifelike' that emotes strong dissonance... bad acting, poor dialogue, terrible plot, etc aren't strictly relevant. All those elements occur in spades in innumerable live action movies, after all.

Haha, while I love this game and am playing through it currently, I have to agree with you. It's actually a very good example of what you're looking for OP. It's a beautiful looking game but it's not quite reaching that point of being natural yet.

the cutscene in the first Bioshock with Andrew Ryan was very uncanney-vally-ish. He looked like he was made out of plastic. Which is ironic because in the second one they have literal plastic Andrew Ryans laying around. The first one was a great game, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't perfect. Also, inFamous's NPCs can't emote for their lives.

Pretty much any of the cutscenes involving people in Alan Wake. Just seeing Alan's wife's face for the first time sent me straight into uncanny valley territory.

Tis nice to meet another fan who can have a middle ground between thinking the game descended from the heavens versus a shit factory xD It's certainly nowhere near a perfect game but I'm having a blast playing it.
