So recently I got back into playing a few horror games for the PS2, and DAM did they shake me up more than a few times!
Right now I'm doing:

-F.E.A.R (Loads of cheap scares ;__; I HATE VENTILATION DUCKS!)
-Fatal Frame (Stuck on the 3rd chapter) :(
-Fatal Frame 2 (Just started, Haven't got the camera yet and It made me jump...twice)

I also, remember Silent Hill 3 which I remember I was scared as hell in a way to advance threw the tight indoor spaces ><
Everything was so bloody in that game most of the time compared to the other silent hill's it was a mindfuck ;___;

See what I mean...

AND THIS:
What can possibly go wrong...

This scene creeped me the hell out

So escapist members, Which was the last game(s) you recall really being afraid of, even if it was for just a moment, most of the game or just a cheap scare.

EDIT: Just to say...Japenese Horror is....UGGHHHH!...to much at times
X(

When you're walking around peacefully by yourself and then THIS happends...It really gets to you

Also what's the most scariest movie you've seen so far?
As for me.... Ju-on ;__;

Share your stories :D

I've never really been scared by a game, but playing through Dead Space on hard was pretty stressful.

I remember watching my brother's friend play Manhunt on the Play Station. Not so much a horror game, but just sick. Then again I love Hitman Blood Money, and there are some similar executions on that game. I've never really been into horror games or films. The odd go on Resident Evil is my only real experience.

Fallout 3, one of the vaults, I don't remember which, the one with the drugs. I went in, saw 3 of clones of my dad run at me then disappear.

I then proceeded to shit a brick and got the hell out. I only know it was all drug induced was because of the Wiki.

Nova prospect from Half life 2 made me a model citizen because I realized I would go insane in prison. That place creeped the hell out of me. And just to be clear, Ravenholm was a BLAST, house to house zombie fighting, EPIC. Not that scary, kind of creepy.

Dead Space never really horrified me, only in the beginning before you get good weapons and know they can play dead >:|

I agree with this. The first monster had set me up for disappointment in the horror department. On the other hand, it did set me up for what would be a grotesquely awesome game.

The last scary game I played was probably Vampire the Masquerade with Ocean Hotel. Fallout 3 really did a good job of making me feel claustrophobic with some of those vaults. I haven't played Silent Hill or Fatal Frame in a while. I've been meaning to, but I just never find the right moment.

The last game I remember being freaked out by was killer7. Those Heaven Smiles really creep me out. Susie (I think that was her name. You know, the one who gave you rings) disturbs me deeply for some reason I cannot figure out.

The scariest movie I have seen so far... Hmm... I would have to say "The Shining" (Stanley Kubrick one, not the TV movie one). That elevator scene (you know the one) is really disturbing.

Last 'horror' game I played was Silent Hill Shattered Memories. Tense at first, but after 2 hours you realize that it's not scary at all. Still has good mindfucks though.

F.E.A.R. God, little girl ghost give me the shits.

But what sealed the deal was the last mission where you have to shoot her in the head, but everything is slowed down and you can only get the final shot off when she's all up in yo grill. He face could freeze the blood of Satan.

Played Fear, and it was pretty good but later in the game it just gets dull for me. Alma stopped being scary after you know or sense she won't actually damage you.

At least I think she never really can kill you >:S

Play the very last level, the one talked about in the spoilers, but don't do what you have to. I dare you.

FEAR. Played at night with surrond sound and only the computer light. I wasted so many bullets shooting at nothing.

Scariest movie would have to be Paranormal Activity. Shut up. It actually scared me but I laughed at all the cheesy parts and how stupid the guy was(I know the proper ways to deal with situations like this) But it still scared me. Actually what scared me the most was the spoof trailer done on escape to the movies I think when the Boo! Ghost pops up. I shat a brick.

I heard of the movie, but I was told it was a cheap scare with no real feel to it.
Is it good story wise?

I avoid horror games like brown people rabid wolves, because horror films are bad enough (after The Exorcist and The Descent I discovered I don't like being scared) and I can't imagine spending hours and hours in similar situations with greater immersion. Regardless, the most recent time a game has scared me would be the City 17 Underground in Half-Life 2: Episode One. Complete darkness, a flashlight that lasts for fifteen seconds and dozens of headcrabs and zombies around every turn all equals me requiring new underwear.

She can at certain times, I recall dying because I ran into her (instead of jumping out the window, waaaaaay at the start of the game).

Also, if you found is less scary once you figured stuff out, again Silent Hill will leave you disappointed. Sure, the chase scenes are fun, but anything outside of that is just cheap scares that never really threaten you. Though I have to say it got really tense near the end again, when everything gets warped and twisted in a way I haven't seen that many times before. But I'll stop before I start spoiling stuff :p

I had the joy of playing Silent Hill 2 for the first time this year (yeah, I know I'm late to the party) and I have to say for all the praise it gets, Silent Hill 2 is STILL underrated. No 'horror' game I've played before or after it stands a chance when held up to the incredible standards that game has set for me with the genre. I used to think FEAR was scary, but SH2 made me realize I had no clue what scary was. And then it kindly showed me 0_o

I do have a problem with foaming at the mouth about games I really love or really hate, but I have to praise this one. It filled a niche in my gaming I didn't even know needed to be filled, it doesn't really on startling moments for most of the horror, and when it actually does, it really fucking gets to you. I think (so none of this is certain) that while playing games like FEAR or Resident Evil, you are subconsciously expecting to get startled, so even if it does make you jump, it quickly subsides. A game like Silent Hill after awhile starts to get you comfortable with the surroundings, and you don't expect anything to startle you. So on the few occasions when they do, YOU SHIT BRICKS

Honorable mentions for good scary games are uhhhhh resident evil? I really have no other titles to mention, if it's one thing this game has done for me, it's made me judge Horror games too harshly
