InstaGib in Quake 3 is insanely intense! If you stand still for longer than 0,5 seconds you're as good as dead. You're a sitting duck if you don't press W the entire time and jump around.
I played it in Q3, but I find it to be more demanding in Unreal Tournament (though I haven't played Q3 in high skill I have to say, it may be more difficult). It's not just a matter of pressing forward and hopping a bit, you have to be in total unison with your character and the game if you wish to have a chance of getting a shot at the higher skilled folk. Duels always have been very interesting, because you needed to keep innovating your strategy in order to surprise the enemy. If you keep doing the same, you would be certainly toast.
But yeah, instagib is the only way to go ^^
Oh on-topic: on another lan-party, somewhere in the suburbs of Dijon, France, I spent four days gaming on perhaps 12 hours of sleep total. Of course I had breaks for walking the dog, eating, showering, and rolling joints, but that's about it I think. It was
awesome.
