I love playing games with achivements in them, just so that I can show just how much of a badass at that game I am and well, their Trophies for god sakes and I have at least 352 trophies last time I checked. So..... yeah.

The PS3 trophies never excited me but having recently got my 360E it's has been a buzz seeing the Achievements Notice pop up. I used think people were mad to play a game for the 'chieves but I can certainly see the appeal.

Still not getting the Avatar: TLAB, though.

Eh, kind of. It's nice to unlock achievements on my first playthrough so I don't feel like I completely suck, and if I've already beaten the game, sometimes I go back to get a few that I missed.

I like them and like to go after them as it sometimes gives me something other to do then just blast through a game. I have rules that I follow though.

1. I will not play a game JUST because the achievements are easy.
2. I will try to get all the single-player achievements possible (to the extent that I have a spreadsheet keeping track of it so that I know if I have completed all the achievements that are single player.)

A lot of people are mentioning Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, and Call of Duty 4.

With regards to Assassin's Creed, the collection achievements are annoying but I personally like hunting this sort of thing because it gives me a reason to explore every inch of the world, which in this case had a lot of cool platforming between the cities.

Mass Effect has the right idea. The achievements for using the skills such as Singularity or Sniper Rifle would let you add that skill as a bonus to a new character on the next playthrough.

And finally Call of Duty 4. They are completely correct in making a fun multiplayer game with no multiplayer achievements. In my experience, many games are ruined online by multiplayer achievements as people are busy chasing them instead of just enjoying the game. Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway also has a similar idea, with all 1000 points in single player mode while there are a few multiplayer achievements that are worth 0.

So in summary, yes I love my achievements because they add another element to the games that I love.

I admit being an achievement whore. Well, I don't go for the really hard ones though unless someone I know has managed to unlock them.

I'll go for them only when they give me something in game. (Halo 3, soulcalibur 4 ect.) Other than that I don't care. At all. I haven't even opened up the acievements tab of any of my games that I've gotten in the last, like, year. I just get the ones that I get without trying.

I usually don't go out of my way to get achievements, but every so often I'll go the extra mile to get an achievement.(going through the harder difficulties on Mass Effect, trying to find every audio log/file in ODST for example.)

I mainly use achievements to show off to my friends on Xbox live. Getting the "Mile High achievement" on COD4 felt pretty good. But I never really understood all those people doing menial tasks collecting 200 flags in Assasins Creed and stuff like that. My opinion is that most developers still doesn't know how to use achievements to improve the gameplay. At their best achievements make a wonderful metagame rewarding you for completing objectives you didn't know excisted (deflecting an arrow with your knife in RE5 for instance), at their worst on the other hand it makes a lot of people exhaust their games while watching videos on youtube to find 500 skulls/flags/orbs. But hey, if that's your cup of tea who am I to judge you?

I don't really care for achievements but I will go for them if I will have fun doing it. But I like how marathon durandal gave me an achievement for four gamer score making the last digit not a five or a zero but a four or a nine. I find it funny when someone asks "How did you do that"?

Nil. Not really interested in them at all.

Shouldn't this be a poll too?
Thanks for the suggestion, I'm relatively new here, so I'm not sure how to do one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think when you start a thread, that there is a tick button just beneath the main box saying "make this a poll?"

Past that, never tried, soz.

Well, if I can easily get the achievements than I'll go for all of them. Some of the achievements that require you to do something way out of the way I usually frown upon.
