The problem being that if anyone were to lay eyes upon the Great Chtulu, Destroyer of Universes, their mind would be rent asunder as their psyche fell into the never-ending abyss of insanity.

Seriously though, never read Lovecraft nor seen a Lynch film so...*shrug*

Wasn't there already a Call of Cthulhu movie? or somnething by HP Lovecraft? I remember it because they made the main character gay despite it having no point in the film.

A silent movie has been released in 2005 which is quite faithful to the original Lovecraft story.

It's an interesting movie to see, considering the staggering amount of explosions in movies these days.

I think you have just summed up the Internet in general right there.

And that is why Cthulhu is synonymous with The Internet...

There were adaptions of his books made into film. One I remember watching was Dagon (2001 released). I'm sure there are more out there

That movie was based on Lovecraft's 'Shadow over Innsmouth' story, there's little relation to Cthulhu there; though Dagon and Cthulhu share the same mythos.

It's a funny movie though :)

I believe Guillermo Del Toro is interested in making a movie based off 'At The Mountains of Madness'. Having looked at his previous creature designs, he might be the best director to make the madness real..

I just finished eraserhead and i think that david lynch could capture the underlying insanity of lovecraft's works on film

He might pick it up after 'The Hobbit', so we have to be patient for a couple of more years..

To pass the time, we'll have to make do with B-movie adaptions, musicals and silent movies :).

Musicals? What the... Happy singing flowerpeople and Chuthulu in one go? That would just be beyond madness...
