I'd hand out a theory, but I don't want to tread the "Tali's Sweat" path of video game analysis.

I'll just say that werewolf-Khajiit are more brain-bending to me.
What's Tali's Sweat? A Google search doesn't seem to yield any results, except for something odd about Quarians not having sweat scent because of a lack of bacteria on Quarians. I don't know much about Mass Effect though, only played the first game.

Most of the other races are mammals. The reptile class is a monkey wrench in the whole thing. The developers didnt give a crap about the science of what a werewolf is or the science behind it. It would have made more sense to have a more beastial form of the regular reptile form but they may not have had the time.

Also, its a game that uses magic.

Remember how tore up the casual Star Wars fans got when it was revealed the Force was merely a high concentration of macguffin-shaped antibodies in your blood? And how hard the cosplaying fans had to work to try to get that to make sense? And how the madness affecting the homeless in Condemned turned out to be some noisemakers hidden in smoke alarms throughout the town?

The point I'm trying to make is that sometimes it's best to let the mystery go unexplained. Attempting to discuss causality removes the magic of things. Considering that this is a full-blooded fantasy RPG, magic is about all we've got to go on.

Well, magic and stealth sections.

Werewolves are the creation of Hircine, the Daedric Prince of the Hunt. They aren't true werewolves, they are symbols of hunting, their form chosen because it suits the wilds of Skyrim. Werecrocodiles, a creature mentioned in Elder Scrolls lore, are common to Black Marsh, homeland of the Argonians, because crocs are well-adapted to hunting such an environment.

It's all about being the apex predator, about being the perfect hunter for the environment they are in.

More importantly, if the Argonians are fully reptilian, why do the females have breasts? They have no need for them, as reptiles don't nurse their young. Only mammals do that.

And considering that we are talking about a magical disease that allows those affected to turn into a giant wolf/man hybrid, I don't think it's that hard to assume that the magic can help the Argonians along...

Shouldn't we be were-sabercats then while in skyrim?
Or at least were-cavebears?

Hilarious if when Kahjiit turned into werewolves the CatDog theme music played, except remixed to the Skyrim soundtrack, and in the Dragon Language.

Part way down, Thundertactics' post.

There's a line between speculation and "Oh God you're creepy". He strode clean across it.

EDIT: Have a better post. http://social.bioware.com/qnwn.net/forums/forum/1/topic/325/index/7926723/1

You are talking about a person who is able to morph into a wolf at will, and wondering why they all look alike is the only question you have?

Because neither are capable of hunting in packs like humans.

True, you run into a few pairs of bears, and some caves are home to multiple bears, but I'm thinking these are mated pairs, not true packs. Bears tend to be solitary animals, and sabrecats, if they're anything like tigers, are fiercely territorial loners.

Because every living creature stems from a basic proto-form all life evolved from. The Argonians, though lizards, still have the skeletal frames, muscles, and proteins/cells in their bodies to properly accomodate a lycantrope transformation. The virus not only has the genetic blueprint of *which* traits to exenuate but also to provide the base cellular creation (ie: hair cells on an argonian) and regress additional traits (tails) to create a final form. I'd expect nothing less than a top virus from the God of the Hunt himself.

I did an Orc-wolf character, and I didn't bat an eyelash, because I think we abandoned all sense of plausibility when dragons are attacking a land that contains bi-pedal lizard people and guys who shoot fireballs out of their hands.

How can humans be werewolves?
Magic!
Also, Skyrim werevolves, at least the kind you turn into, isn't a disease.
It's a magical affliction, basically a curse.
Or blessing, depending on your view.

But bipedal reptiles really did exist.
And they never really stopped existing either.
They just learned to fly.
