How can you NOT have played that?!

Have you ever met someone, or known someone, that has not played a game that you consider to be one of the most important games of your life? Or a game that you've played so many times, know so many people that play it, and/or is so popular and well known?

For example:
Imagine meeting someone that has not played Halo (first one), Ocarina of Time, or Pacman.
I consider all of those games to be extremely well known games, and meeting someone who has not played them is unheard of.
Meeting someone who has not even heard of those games, is even more insane (I work with a guy who never heard of Ocarina...)

Now, I try not to get into "How have you not seen that movie?!/played that game?!/read that book?!" discussions, because everyone has their own list; but seeing as how I had to explain what a Reaver was, who Tassadar is, and why Adun is a cool guy to the protoss, to someone playing Starcraft 2, I'm going to bend my rule for a bit.

How have you NOT seen that movie?!
How have you NOT read that book?!

Met someone that has not seen the Star Wars movies, and met another person that has never read any Dr. Seuss book...

And playing any of the Elder Scrolls games. If you've never played any of them, you're missing out.

As for a game... well I know a lot of people who don't play games, so that happens all the time with me.

My sister has not seen the Star Wars movies, nor Casablanca. It's strange because I've been living in the same house as her and yet I saw them at least twice. Never read a Dr. Seuss book though.

I've met someone who hasn't played Mario. After that confession, the conversation was full of awkward moments of silence.

I never played the first Halo. But I have played Ocarina and Pacman.
I have a friend who doesn't know what Ocarina of Time is like or about. And yes, me and my other friend's brains melted.

I'll say Goldeneye, or at least knowing of Goldeneye, and not having an outside assumption that Call of Duty, a series most people didn't care about until the fourth one, or Halo, invented FPS, or even FPS on the console.

Hmmm, well I've never played any of the Halo, Metroid, or Zelda games and I've never seen the Godfather movie(s). Those are the only big ones that I can think of right now.

As for games, I guess the most obvious one is Super Mario Bros. As for others, nothing stands out that much. I would agree with Ocarina, though.

I'll be honest with you, I am that guy that "didn't play/watch/see/etc. x thing", and i've never really cared about the subject matter "I missed out on" unless not knowing it caused confusion during doing something I did care about, in which case I have the power of all the wikis on the interwebs to inform me about x thing without having to ask a question.

I've never read a doctor Seuss book myself. Never read a Harry Potter book despite being the target market when the first one was released. I have no interest in Ocarina of Time. I'm not particularly interested in any Nintendo franchise and the only Mario game I own is Mario Kart on the DS because it was the only game that my girlfriend at the time would play.

I've never seen a godfather film, scarface or goodfellas. I'm sure there are other things I can think of that I haven't seen/played/read that would be an affront against any of the books/games/films buffs.

Dungeon Master? AWESOME!!! In fairness, a lot of these guys will be too young to have ever been able to own that.

Anyway, I'm one of those grizzly old gamers. I know SO many games/movies/books/songs/artists who many of my gamer peers have never even heard of, let alone played...
