Sorry mate, no flame intended.
That "I've-got-enough-other-entertainment-stimulation-to-not-care." part stepped a bit on my nerves...Damn,i guess i really am old.
Anyway, may your "entertainment" always be well written and funny/deep.
lol There's no problem here, I just like to have a valid reason as to why I'm being insulted. I've now been given a reason by that other guy who picked up this conversation, so no need to explain the worth of reading Dune. ;P
BTW sorry if I was a bit insensetive about your interests, I guess I just don't appreciate traditional litereature as much as others do. Dunno why, I just don't have the attention span for books, even though my girlfrind gives me an earful over it every time I mention it.

I haven't played Halo (excluding 5 min at a friends place, don't know which of them), I've only played a little of Ocarina back when i knew friends who hag N64s and a limited amount an the PC (lost the emulation), and I've never played Pac-man.

I'm not a fan of thinking there is stuff everyone SHOULD have experienced, maybe because there is always something on those kinds of lists that i myself have not experienced, but it's mostly about the fact i don't think you can make those kind of generalizations.

How many people here can name the Top 10 Must See Bollywood movies? Or the top 5 must-play games in Japan? Or a list of the most popular musicians in the Middle-East? I can't, and i know they would be as appalled/surprised that i haven't experienced any of it, as many westerner are when i tell them i haven't seen a certain movie, heard a certain song, know the name of a certain actor, or haven't played a certain game when they believe i should have.

By choosing not to? It's not like breathing, where it's beyond choice.
It was before my time, and when i saw other people play it (once, i think) it didn't look more interesting than what i had previously been led to believe (oh, had heard of it. still not interested).

I know too many people who have never played Tetris. How is that even possible?!
I've played it maybe once. It was engaging in it's simplicity, like most games from that era, but i would not fault anyone for having only heard of Tetris (or Pac-man, or any other from that era). Fun piece of video game history, but not something you should feel bad for not having played.

Reading Dune. I mean REALLY.

And playing any of the Elder Scrolls games. If you've never played any of them, you're missing out.
I totally agree, lots of people I know have heard of Dune. I don't know anyone else who has actually read it though. Two of them said they have, but they later admitted that they haven't. I think people claim to have read/watched/played things that they haven't. It was seriously awesome, and not at all as boring as all those other 'classics; out there that are utterly boring to read and everyone who reads them are pretentious old jerks.

Every single person in on the planet a developed nation should have played tetris and pong. There is not excuse for not having a single session with these games.

Haven't played Ocarina of Time. Didn't have the console when it was new. Don't care enough about it to get it now.
This. Like a lot. People give me crap about it all the time. I just don't care enough about it.

I'd give RE4 a shot. It's hard to believe but it's MUCH better than 5.

OT: I can't understand when someone of my generation has never watched The Simpsons. I also had a number of nerdy friends back in college who admitted that they never saw any of the Star Wars movies, but they made Star Wars references all the time. "That's it, turn in your pop-culture card at my desk."

I understand what you mean, but I'm just surprised that someone could not have played a game so famous. Sure it may not be everyone that likes it, but most people have at least tried it once :/

Someone where I work has only seen one James Bond movie, non of the Matrix or Godfather movies, and hasn't seen Pulp Fiction, Fight Club, Kill Bill, Goodfellas, or Citizen Kane. The worst part? He's a God Damned Cinema Projectionist!

Also I hadn't played Mass Effect until yesterday. I bought it in one of Steam's many sales, but hadn't played it yet. Yesterday I played for about 10 hours straight. Damn it is good :)

Now if you'll excuse me I think I may be able to fit in a game before I have to go to work. Perhaps if I skip showering and shaving I may have time for a whole mission...
I've never watched an entire James Bond film, they just don't do it for me for some reason. I'm glad you started with Mass Effect, seeing as how I believe it to be better in almost every way than the sequel.

I heard of someone who calls himself a gamer who has never played Dungeon Master but I don't believe it.
That's just ridiculous, I've been playing games for years and I've never heard of that game, not having played one particular game does not make you "not a gamer".

There are a lot of games which I haven't played, mostly because I didn't have appropriate console, and there weren't many people playing so there was no one to recommend them. Also Internet was slow and inaccessible and I was 10 years old. Megaman, Zelda, Metroid, Doom, any Final Fantasy before VII come to mind. Also I have hard time remembering Duke Nukem, Deus Ex, System Shock, Planescape Torment cause back then I was too young to understand how good those games are.

It's not my fault if other people have been slack when it comes to telling you about the landmark games of the past.

2 My brother. I hand him KOTOR and months later when I ask him if he had play it and he said no. This in turn made me react to this thread title and he only response "I couldn't overlook the graphic". WTF! I can understand if it?s PS1 or N64 Graphic but this?! Mind you he's big fan of Mass Effect but still this is what I hate Graphic> Gameplay people...
KOTOR isn't even that bad looking. I just finished it myself, and I've never really cared about graphics, beyond being able to see what's going on with ease, and tell characters apart and stuff.
It's certainly an awesome game.
Anyway, I have a friend who has never heard of Jimi Hendrix and has never seen Star Wars. I have no idea what she does in her spare time, it's weird...
Games... I don't think there's much. I will say that I've barely played Halo SP, maybe an hour of the story before I got bored.
MP, bit more often. I think twice now with friends, because it's practically the only thing our laptops can all run.

I tried to read Dune, I really did. I found it was one of the most boring fiction books I've read in my entire life. Sorry.

But yeah, most games i can understand why some people wouldn't play them. Even though I consider Kotor to be a great RPG doesn't mean that it will be good for someone who doesn't even like RPG's.

As for movies; Everyone must watch Star Wars. Come on, it will take a few hours and now you'll finally get those Star Wars references everyone throws in in conversation.

And everyone should watch The Matrix. And not the sequels. Because there were no sequels. NONE AT ALL!
