I live in Brussels, 30 meters from Manneken Pis (little boy pis), a small fountain hordes of Japanese people come take pictures of.
I admit, it is a weird statue, but there you go.

And about 8 km from the Atomium, a remnant from the world expo in 1958.

Uhhhhhhh....hmmmmm... The Santa Monica Pier? If not I live within viewing distance of downtown Los Angeles, which is almost a monument all on its own.

I'm a short train journey from London, so yeah quite a bit there. Also apparently Stonehenge is somewhere near here but I have no idea where.

I live like an hour from the CN tower.

Its one of the tallest buildings in the world [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tallest_freestanding_structures_in_the_world]... yeah thats about it.
Man that thing is ugly.
Its funny you'd say that because its sole purpose pretty much is as a tourist attraction. People pay way too much money just for the privilege to go up in it. I'm being completely serious.

But I guess looking at a three inch picture of the thing is a little different from standing before it in real life :p

I live about five blocks from where William Quantrill burned my town down in the 1850s, if you count underground ruins a monument. If not, I live about 60 kilometers away from the only World War I monument in the United States.

I live a couple hours drive from a famous geyser called Geysir (which is where geysers get there name from, actually), as well as a few more hours from Europe's largest glacier and Europe's largest desert. . . those aren't exactly monuments though, so... ... yeaah

I'm about half an hour away from the city of Sydney. So that's the Sydney opera house, the Sydney harbour bridge, centre-point tower...

Hmm. Miami monuments. I guess the port of Miami kind of counts, that's where all the cruise ships and drugs come in. That's about 10 miles away.

There are also some famous people's houses around the area, as well as those islands like Hibiscus Island and Palm island where you don't have to be famous, only fabulously wealthy. But I suppose those are more like landmarks than monuments.

How about Disneyworld?

I live about 10 miles from the USS North Carolina Battleship Memorial. I suppose it's not really a monument but it's a big deal around here for some reason.
