I used to live a block and a half from the Ambassador Bridge. Now the closest anything that I live near is probably the West Edmonton Mall (formerly the largest mall in the world) which is a good 4 or 5 hour drive from where I sit.

An Hour from Boston. We tried to have a tea party one time, but the guests got too drunk, pissed off the land lords, and then preceded to take over their house. Funny thing was, they succeeded.

There aín't no 'well known' monuments in the Netherlands (except the red light district)... So I'll just say 30km to Amsterdam.

Newgrange. If you've never heard of it, it's older than the pyramids and Stonehenge and almost as cool. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newgrange

Other monuments include the world's tallest lamppost, otherwise known as the Millennium Spire (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millennium_Spire), and a big load of castles. So nothing properly famous...

Except the Leprechaun Tree filled with Guiness monkeys.

I live a 20 minute swim away from Death island. Not that any of you would know about it.

I live in Chicago's suburbs. We're falling over old buildings in that city, and everyone's heard of the Sears Tower. Which apparently had a name change, but nobody cared.

If you send a message to John Funk, or Jordan Deam, or whoever and they say it ok if I come over and play then you may live with me.
But your sleeping on the couch...and the rent is 300$...and if im not home you have to walk my dog.

I really hate saying this, but... The Mall of America.
Jesus Christ. People will fly in, shop there and stay at the hotel and then fly back. There's MUCH better things to do in Minnesota. The problem is that there's nothing else in Bloomington besides the MoA.

I get this strange feeling you are being serious.
You may have to wait 3 years.

I live 2 minutes Up the road from the Forth Rail Bridge and about 16 miles from Edinburgh, which is chock-a-block with monuments, notably the big ass castle.

The hideous people of Leeds should be something to revere; how did they get so hideous?

The closest monument I can think of is the Angel of the North. If you don't know what that looks like, think of a very tall, metallic, basically angel-shaped cut-out (and I mean basic, so basic the wings go straight from left to right, no curvature), and it's brown.
