in oblivion the skills were more streamlined and they got rid of that annoy chance to hit garbagedelta4062 said:There was a story, and the controls were monumentally better than Morrowinds. Sure it didn't have as many quests and Morrowind, but it still had a hell of a lot more than Fallout 3 did. Then they put out Oblivion, a game with atrocious controls that should have been scrapped after Daggerfall, zero story, atrocious writing, terrible voice acting, moronic mechanics, a cluttered and poorly designed interface and an open world more boring than a can of spam. They did make up for it a bit with Fallout 3, but I still fear for the Elder Scrolls series...
Really, those are some pretty stupid complaints.
Morrowind only had five voice actors?delta4062 said:A lot of voice actors from Morrowind went onto Oblivion as wellJandau said:Elder Scrolls: Oblivion - Elder Scrolls were always the forerunners in Open World RPGs, with Morrowind reaching cult status. I have to agree, I adore Oblivion, I still play it now!delta4062 said:There was a story, and the controls were monumentally better than Morrowinds. You mean I am not the only one who felt that way?child of lileth said:Valkyrie Profile. I loved the first two games for so many reasons. Then the fanfic on the DS came out. It put me in a permanent state of sad-face the entire time I forced myself to play it. Not because it's sad, but because I couldn't understand why tri-Ace felt that they needed to rape my dedication to the series as a fan.
What they had was barely a story. It was boring, predictable, lacked any sembalnce of characterization, and the characters themselves were forgettable at best. Also, the side quests were mostly lacking context and just thrown out there (with one or two exceptions).delta4062 said:There was a story, and the controls were monumentally better than Morrowinds. Yep! Although it's easy to see how it could have gone downhill but still... come on guys!Notthatbright said:Silent Hill.
True. Halo: CE remains my favourite, perhaps because it was the original or maybe because it was and still is an epic and exciting romp through space. 2 just didn't hold the same and 3 tried to be too much like 1 and failed. ODST had a radically different style and I actually really liked it. I'll hold judgement on Reach though but you're right, it's definately time to let this horse die in peace.Grouchy Imp said:The Halo series. The original was pretty damn awesome, the second not so much, and the third was (in my opinion) just so much re-heated dross that I haven't even bothered with ODST. And now Reach is coming out. Bungee have flogged this particular dead horse so much that it's now not even a smear on the ground.
The interface WASN'T smooth at all : who wants to click Ok each time they want to sell one item, or can't sell more than one at a time when the stack is less than 4. Add to that the awful resolution of the menu, the absence of keyboard shortcuts and some other more minor issues (like hovering over a buff not indicating what it was), and it all amounts to a sluggish interface.delta4062 said:There was a story, and the controls were monumentally better than Morrowinds. Thankfully, we can download mods who greatly improve one the majority of these issues, but I feel the game should have had that at the time. That's the problem with games that go out on pc and console, but don't get a revamp for the pc version to better accomodate the controls.
