This happens to me too. A few exceptions being StarCraft, Quake III Arena (which I still play), and a few other games of similar genres. When it comes to platformers and the like, I'm not half as good.

Oh yeah, another exception is Scorched Earth, I'm pro at that now.

I ended up finding my old SNES Power Rangers game which I know I had beaten when I was 5. I tried playing it today (I'm 19 now) and I only just got through 3 levels.
Anyway, question is... Have you ever rediscovered an old game that you played to death as a kid and totally mastered... Only to pick it up now and fail more than anything?
DUDE FUCKING LOVED THAT GAME! holy shit..that game gave me orgies as a child (not literally)

but yes i tried playing ninja turtles and mortal kombat...i have no fucking clue how i was so good at those when i was 5

The original Ninja Gaiden for NES and Mike Tysons Punch Out.

Not videogame related: Spinning in a circle for a really long time. Now I just get sick.
I went on one of those playground spinny things and I died ;___;

So there's no arcade games that you can't play as well these days?
Or has old age riddled you with the sore bones? :p

I played it to death as a kid. It was my favourite game by far.

I feel you man. I used to beat Contra without the 30 lives cheat just for fun. I was a badass. Dominating contra one day, owning the water level in TMNT the next.

Oh boy, not anymore though.

Donkey Kong Country 3 for me. I can still beat it today. Back then, however, I could beat it faster and faster every time i played it. Now I've just lost my touch.

Contra is ridiculous. I remember being a tank at that game. Now I struggle with the 30 lives code.
I didn't get to play TMNT as a kid D::

I was never a fan of DKC 3. I much preferred 1 and 2.

The Bouncer. I must have been masochistic as a child, because I just don't have the patience for it anymore. Also, when I was younger, I actually finished battletoads on the sega (with a friend). I have trouble on the 2nd level nowadays.

The Addams Family game for Sega. Fiendishly impossible now. Maybe I've just gotten clumsy with my D-pad thumb and have lost jump thumb/eye coordination, but goddamn. Pretty much anything for Sega, except Sonic 2. I still kick that game's ass.

Shinobi III, for Sega Genesis.

I used to be a master of that game, and beat it daily. Tried playing it again a little while back when I got the Sega Genesis Collection for PSP. Never got very far, kicked my ass every time.

It's kinda the opposite for me I remember playing golden axe as a youth and not really being bothered about finishing the game I just wanted to ride the dragons. When I bought it from Xbox live arcade my friend and I completed it twice in 30 mins. Just goes to show you how your priorities change...one day you're riding dragons..then next whoring for acievements

IF your an older gamer like myself absolutley. Games were WAY harder then then they are now. ALl of them. Being a guitarist i really don't think its my hand eye coordination, but my skills as a gamer have been dulled by modern day titles.

Same here, some games would kick my ass as a kid but then I come back to them now and wonder what was so hard.

This has happened to my cousin she used to kick ass at Super Mario Bros then we start playing it last thanksgiving and she just plain sucked.

Mike Tyson's punchout!

I fired up a rom of it a while back. I got through everyone easy enough but MT proceeded to repeatedly own my tiny ass. As a kid, I used to amaze all around me with my ability to beat that game.
