Oh god, people, we KNOW the story is like dancing with wolves. To quote Moviebob: "Saying the story is like dancing with wolves doesn't make you clever." Also, the story may be done a few times, but it is TOLD extremely well, and that is eventually what matters. And btw, peopel keep saying: "If you take away the special effects there won't be anything behind it." That may or may not be so, but you should look at it how it is, with special effect and all, else you will get a whole wrong image, because it is a film WITH special effects, adn not without it.

To answer OP's question: I was still in that whole scene, I bumped into everything in the theather XD
Exactly.

Also it's so fucking weird, no critic has hit the nail on the head time and time again for me like moviebob. I really trust his opinion, his word is law.

Mind=Blown

OT: I kinda felt bad that I was rooting for the humans... but that hair bond thing creeped me out.

Then I feel District 9's story was much more "fresh" than Avatar's. The tragic hero story was just too washed for me.
Hey, you won't get an argument from me on District 9 being better.
I loved District 9.

But I find it funny that you dub Avatar as the 'tragic hero' story...when, really, District 9 has the same theme.
Again: I totally agree that the story-telling and script of District 9 (As well as the pseudo-documentary film style during the beginning and scattered through the film) were better then that of Avatar, but the point is that Avatar was a good film!
Not great, no, but certainly not 'bad'.

Every film uses some tired old theme. It's how they present it that makes it stand out.
District 9 presented it in an excellent way.
Avatar presented it in a 'good' way.

District 9 had me more emotionally invested, but both thoroughly entertained me.
But, as you suggested with your '/my opinion', we're treading deep into 'opinion' territory.

Its the best movie of 2009 (based on release date, could well still be best movie of 2010, but we'll have to see) certainly in terms of spectacle and storytelling.

Saying that the storytelling is generic is a huge misjudgement. Its got original character design, ideas, languages and cultures. Cameron knows how to create epics, and this is one of them.

I felt smart because I didn't walk out saying it was Dances With Wolves or Pocahontas, an idea which I clearly stole from someone else.

I felt like I had a good time at the movies, which is my goal. I don't watch movies to walk out of the theature with my perspective changed. I want to walk out going "That was awesome" and I did.

My ass hurt from the chairs, my eyes hurt from the 3d glasses, but The ending gave me chills for some reason, excellent movie all around.
