How did you find the Escapist,and why did you make a profile??

I was looking for the Fallout official page and among the Google results was a video that had a white cartoon dude on yellow background. It looked interesting so I clicked it. And I made a profile after some lurking, there are quite some discussions going on here.
Found the escapist via Zero Punctuation, The Orange Box one I think, right after that one was released.

I followed a link to Yahtzee's Halo 3 review and ended up here.
Then I lurked around for a few years untill I eventually made an account.

On my birthday, two days after New Years Day 2009, IMDB had a link to a top 10 list of best episodes of 2008. It was uninteresting, but there was a mention of Yahtzee's Super Smash Bros Brawl review. I hadn't heard of Yahtzee, but there was a picture in the article of a stick figure with a sweet hat beating the stupid out of another stick figure with a Guitar Hero guitar. I followed the link and was hooked.
I lurked for a few months until the Escapist told me to vote for them in the 2009 Webbys. I did, and days later everyone got given a badge for winning it. I made a profile right afterward in the hopes that I could get one of these badges too. I didn't, but I've been a member since.

OT: So yeah, I heard of Zero Punctuation on X-Play. The review that piqued my interest was the Army of Two review. I set up a profile after I learned about the badges. The thought of a site with achievements fascinated me. Didn't make a thread until my 400th post (it failed horribly).

I found it in 2005/2006 when it promised to be a bit more on an academic exploration of video games. I found this very attractive. Then sort of ended up not being like that at all. I only paid vague attention to it from then on. Glancing here and there if an interesting article popped up. In 2008 I made an official profile, but I can't remember why now. Then I found Rebecca Mayes and that got me watching regularly. Then I Hit it With My Axe. Both of those are gone now.
So I don't really have strong reason to hang out regularly anymore...but I am a bit of a masochist, so I sometimes enjoy being annoyed by some of the things said on the forums.
ETA: Zero Punctuation is okay, but it isn't the reason why I'm here. And I only started watching it regularly because of Rebecca Mayes's song about it. Though...now that RMM is gone, I've dropped off watching it as regularly.

Found Zero punctuation, the fable review, then the video where he said he could be found on the escapist, saw the little hot forum box on the right hand side of the web page, found a little discussion, signed up and joined it.

I was shown a video of Mr Croshaw's by a friend, and after a while of lurking, I joined the server, upon realizing that there are so many interesting people and shows/features on the site, and that I wanted to be a part of it.
