It was weird for me. I never heard of it until somebody on the Escapist quoted me using one of the articles as a responce to a comment I made. I never heard anybody ever talk about it, I never seen an advertisement for it. But now I see everybody talk of it, and IGN sites one of their "friends."

So, where do you hear about it?

I heard about it here as well. But yesterday I learned my aunt reads it as well so now we've been having conversations about some articles. I've also told my friends about it and they've passed the knowledge along.

Right here, when someone linked me to a "5 Real Life People Who Make Rambo Look Like A Pussy" list.

Almost up there with TVTropes in addictivity I'd say.

I group it in my mind in the same place as websites like Break.com and CollegeHumor (EDIT: And FunnyJunk.com) so I intentionally avoid it because I don't want to catch the stupid

It's a mix between The Onion and TVtropes. It has a mix of news and trivia presented in a pretty laconic and exaggerated manner, usually very interesting. Also, very often exaggerated. And funny. And exaggerated.
(The Onion is a famous satire/parody news website, and TVtropes is a Movie/Video Game/Book/TV show wiki on plot, settings and character tropes and cliches)

Found it being linked on the Escapist probably a few months ago. Same way I found TVtropes.

And the Onion.

Help me, I'm trapped.

Thank you. I shall look at this in the near future.

Someone was reading a review of Windows 7 on cracked and I wanted to read it too. So he gave me the site and I never looked back.

It is a comedy website of a magazine. I don't know if the magazine is still being published.

Someone somewhere (might've been here, might've been somewhere else) linked a Cracked article. Seven hours of following links later, I was hooked.

I learned about it about a year and a half ago from a link somewhere. I still check it daily.

Except Cracked actually has a kernel of truth to their articles, as long as you always remember when reading them that humor comes first and the information presented is often exaggerated or sensationalized because, or for the sake of, said humor.
