Back when I started using the internet around 2000, I was a big fan of Harry Potter. So I made an application to this Virtual Hogwarts and I needed to pick a name. Since Mission Impossible 2 was playing in theatres at the time, I took Tom from the name of the main actor (Tom Cruise) and combined it with Phoenix (my most favourite mythological creature).

While I have stopped visiting that website a long time ago and grew to dislike Harry Potter after the last book, the name stuck and I have preety much used it as a sort of "second identity" ever since.

mine was a holdover from an old Vampire the Masquerade game I played on the whitewolf.com game chat, used it for a yahoo mail, turns out that it got the least amount of spam, so switched everything to that one, and been using the name since out of habit.

Well, for me it started with a story I made in High School, that would be back in 93, so when I started going about the internet and kept coming up with a need for a name. When I tried to use the one in the story I associated with me, it was just too common a name. Then I started going though the cast I just desired to go with the Thundercat inspired one.

There was a point in college where I was completely overloaded, but still determined to make it to daily raids and team skirmishes. Everyone got sick of me complaining how tired I was all the time over vent so I changed my handle to be a smart-ass... and then it stuck. Now it is my username for everything. Because I am consistent. Or just lazy.

Bioshock obsession + my lucky number twice = My username

I wouldn't call nine my lucky number though, it just seems to follow me around a lot, or maybe that's just me being paranoid.
It probably follows you. I get chased around by the number 19, even before reading the Dark tower saga. That just made it even weirder. Although nothing particularly strange happened between me turning 19 and turning 20, so maybe I'm safe from it now.

Mine stems from a variety of childhood/school nicknames. My middle name is Robert, so I got called 'Joe-Bob' or occasionally 'Joe-Bert' a lot as a child, and somehow 'Robo-Jobo' stuck at school. Then they got combined (sort of). Then I added the numbers, because Joebot was taken on xbox live. I've just kept the numbers in all usernames since. As a general rule, J03bot (occasionally Jo3bot) is me. The avatar is fairly constant too.

The song Dignity from Pump it Up made me fall twice in one play, but I managed to get up both times to survive to the end and still fail the song. The witnesses officially declared me the song's *****. Dignity was too feminine at the time for me and Crash was too common so I became [bpm195]

Back when I was creating my email address I couldn't think of anything on the spot. I had been reading the Pendragon book series at the time and was really enjoying it so I just chose that. But it had been taken so i added 177 (it's not even that good of a number) to the end of it and that's that. Been using it for everything ever since.
