Heh, when I'm online It pretty much depends on what I'm doing. Forums, I'm pretty moderate and non-argumentative like IRL. WoW, I'm pretty overly team oriented and something of a leader. Xbox live, the biggest douche bag to walk the face of the earth, watch out if you have an accent or do cheap stuff. (you know like everyone else on Xbox live)

I'm a complete oddball IRL. I'm odd online too, but less so because I have to use real words and somewhat more tasteful humor, because lack of voice inflection would just make me look retarded/mean.

I'm not really that different, except I think a bit more about what I'm saying when i'm here because there is actual intelegent people here to critisize what I am saying.

I rant about things in front of strangers a great deal less in person, otherwise I'm pretty much the same online and offline.

I think I'm more open online.
I'll talk about my problems because I'm not worried about consequences.

Otherwise, yea I'm mostly the same. I like to think I'm better looking online.

Edit; Oh yes, and I have been known to RP as female characters. I'm actually more convincing at it than I am when I RP male characters. Perhaps it's some suppressed desire, but whether it is or isn't I intend to continue being a straight dude.

I'd say I was pretty much the same, though I hold my tongue more often irl because you can't go around upsetting people that you are going to see again all the time.
That's true. A conflict on the internet ends as soon as you close your laptop, but in real life an awkward situation can persist for a long time.
Yeah, like the greater internet fuckwad theory, or whatever it was. (search for that on Penny Arcade if you don't know)

I'm pretty much the same, except I'm a lot more nervous online, and my thoughts play out better through the medium of typing.

I'm a terrible speaker IRL

Mostly I'm the same online as I am offline, with a slight difference in that I'm slightly more outgoing online (naturally) and I've revealed things online that I would never dare tell my real life friends. Whether or not this will come back to haunt me when I meet fellow UK Escapists at UK Escapism 2010, remains to be seen...

I'm pretty much the same - I suppose I'm quicker to argue with people, but I do that in real life too, so there's very little difference.

Oddly enough, I've also done this. Mainly just for the lulz, though. I don't usually do RP online, but I do sometimes use a female character when gaming and I recall a funny incident a few weeks back where, just as a quick experiment, I decided to play Halo Custom Edition (PC) using a blatantly female nickname. It was pretty obvious that it was a hoax (I called myself SxcChick), but nevertheless I had one guy instantly ask to cyber after joining a server. Needless to say, I left pretty quickly. Though more people seemed to think that I was simply part of a clan called SXC... Weird, huh?

very different because like 60% of all my actions cannot be transfered to the internet.
..and thank god for that!

Pretty much the same here. Why would I treat someone online different to someone I know IRL?

Anonymity maybe? No?
I don't like hiding behind anonymity. I'd rather just be me, everyone else can go jump if they have a problem with that.

I tend to be nicer online to people i just met while the people i hang out with describe me as a cold bastard, I pretty much say what's on my mind IRL and online i tend to be more rational.
Also i actually talk when im online, People were surprised to hear my voice back when i was in school, And i like it that way

I wouldn't say my nerdiness changed, it just has more oppurtunities to be let out.

And I'm, if anything, less harsh online than I am in real life. Mainly because sarcasm and things like that are easy to be misunderstood on the interhighway. And I'd say I was more honest on here too, its a lot easier to open up on the internet than to someone's face.

Exactly, embracing anonimity can lead to bad results see either http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2004/03/19/ or for those that have been, 4chan (i recommend that people who havent been to 4chan kep it that way)
