There are some key points in world war two that could have changed the outcome. For example, Operation Sealion (invasion of Britain) could possibly have been accomplished if the Nazis had defeated Britains Airpower and Naval dominace of the English Channel. That is ALOT to ask but if that happened and Britain was able to be conquered then even with the introduction of America into world war two things would have been very difficult for Allied victory.

I'm not saying that the Allies won because of Britain but without a staging post for normandy landings, the United States wouldn't of been able to land forces on Europe. The collapse of the British empire wouldn't have helped either.

The Nazis possibly could have brought about a stalemate situation. But that requires:

-Nazi conquest of Britain
-A Later introduction to WW2 by United States
-The United States NOT developing the atomic bomb in 1945
-Nazi conquest of Moscow in 1941 (Nearly did, but failed.)

I was discussing this with a friend yesterday but couldn't come to a conclusion.
What does the escapist think?
As someone who spends large amounts of time pondering things like this, I have to admit that there are too many variables to provide a reasonable answer. I could guide you through what might have happend to individual situations in PMs or via messengers if you would like though.

I don't think it would be possible, as Hitlers vision of Nazi Germany was so far removed from reality that to achieve it he would have needed to conquer Poland and Russia, and defeat anyone who objected to his takeovers. I think then there would have been lots of failed economic initiatives to create a completely independant Germany, eventually resulting in a revolution by the German people, in the same way that the USSR fell.

If I was to let my imagination run wild, and disregard a few minor facts, it would be something like this:
Hitler's Nazi army would have successfully defeated the Russian army, and took control over it, and used its military, and man power along with Japan to cause a major blow, and disable the U.S.A,Canada, Britain, and France.
This will give it it enough time to get rid of the majority of Jews, forcing it to find someone else to fill the hole thus moving on to other races, and religions, making it's relationship with Japan uneasy; tensions will break; betrayals, and attempted assassination will happen, then a very ugly civil/military wall will take place for a couple of years, the Nazi's will eventually loose, but by that time devastation will have hit the whole world, by 2011 we would still be feeling it, economically, environmental, and psychologically.

I must say i am disappointed in the people who have only posted about their generic enemy not existing and have not cared to post something that contained signs of thought.
OT, IF the USA weren't involved or somehow beaten.
and IF the nazi's had the resources to beat the rest of Europe.
then there would be no more Jews, blacks, gays or gypsies. Europe would have fallen under nazi control (possibly) and there would be ALOT more arians.

when it comes to the fall of the nazi's it would all depend on japans movements and the movements of the nazi party itself.
IF Japan did take over Asia/Australia japan and nazi's would war at some stage. Or
IF japan failed like they did, Australia and the rest of Asia may have led a rebellion against nazi-Germany causing WW3.
IF USA weren't involved in WW2 they most likely would be involved in WW3 finally seeing the nazi's as a growing threat.
even IF the nazi's won that they would have possibly lasted (due to more propaganda) until the time when hitler dies, or most likely fallen when their economy would have bombed (again) this time causing Germany to destroy itself.
IF USA weren't involved in WW3 and the nazi's economy didnt crumble then at some stage nazi-germany and the USA (being the only 2 big powers in the world left) would have caused WW4, competing to (possibly) own earth as Africa and the middle east would be to small to protect itself.

even after this wall of text it could still be all wrong as there are to many possibility's as to what could of happened.
(longest post I have EVER done, wew. if you read this far thanks :D)
EDIT: and to think that all of this would have started due to one arch-duke being assassinated.

I believed that the war would have continued or at least subsequent wars with other nations. The Nazis would eventually be defeated/collapse because they would not be able to control the vast areas in which it was invading. There is just too much land area and opposing forces for one country to take control of. The Roman Empire couldn't had trouble holding on to all its territories and eventually collapsed, the Nazis wouldn't be any different.

I think the only way this really could have happened is if the US didn't enter the European theatre of war and Germany didn't break their pact with Russia. Germany would eventually control all of Europe except Switzerland. Then we'd have three superpowers: Germany, USA, and Russia. A three-way Cold War would probably be a bit more volatile, so I'm guessing nuclear annihilation by the 1970s.

Didn't Hitler have a plan as to what would happen in WWII if he won where he would retire after winning the war in 45 and his sucessor would wage war on America later on?

Well let's consider what they could actually win.

One small country taking over the world was never possible, so let's say they were actually smart about it and not overextend themselves.
If they would concentrate on central Europe where they already had sympathy with Austria and Italy the rest would fall quite quickly, and if they weren't decimating their armies going up against USSR they could hold that new ground.
If Japan gained some sympathy on the Asian side they could probably take control of South Asia, most of it anyway.

In the end we would probably have 4 super powers, I doubt Hitler would actually accept joining his "Aryan Master Race" with Asians, I do believe the man was a bit racist.
Other then that, the fascist regimes would fall eventually, so we would probably end up at the same point but this time we would have a couple of games about "Nazi-Europe, fuck yeah!" and be shooting all the evil non-Nazis.

I know that if Hitler won we'd all be speaking German, just like how they have to speak English in Germany now.

Australia would no longer be a nation-continent because the government would have surrendered everything north of Brisbane to the Japanese, which would have been awesome.

It might have lasted Hitler's lifetime before it collapsed in on itself. Maybe.

No government ever really lasts too long once it grows to that size.

Well for one it's not fair to say Germans.
It was the Nazi's, many Germans were opposed.

And most likely the war would just have raged on for longer leading to the inevitability that they'd lose anyway.
Failing that, no more yews and more Arian people.
Sorry for the offence, none meant, subject edited.
First off, I'm German and I find it unfair to reduce a war solely on the small group of people who seeked to benfit from it. We all have to bear part of the responsibilies through our inactions. It's like saying "America has nothing to do with Iraq, that was just Bush.". Hitler and Bush both were democratically elected officials, one had the help of the SA, the other Fox News, same difference.

The answer to the OPs question depends wholly on the approach of "How did they do it?". You could say Hitler hadn't wasted his ressources attacking Russia and using those to invade the UK. You could say the Japanese and Germans could have attacked Russia and kept the USA out of the picture. You could say that Germany got the bomb before the USA and kept them in check that way. All these and dozens of other scenarios would have potentially given Germany the opportunity to consolidate their occupied territories and at some point manage to end the war while still holding on to them. How the world would look like depends entirely on the way you retroactively change the facts to produce the goal of your theorycrafting, and these are just military scenarios.

But let's make a political one, just to see where it goes:

Imagine the American President dies and is replaced by a hardcore isolationist who got voted into office by promising to get out of WW2 because of the lives lost and the fact that the fat of Europe will ultimately meaningless for the US population at large. UK loses the atlantic support and is crushed. Japan gets out with a peace treaty, maybe pays some compensation for Pearl Harbour and all those shenanigans and keeps Russia in check because they could win against Japan, they could win against Germany, but they can't win against Germany if the UK and US threat is gone and they can't attack Japan without getting bumrushed by Germany.

Now the war ends in 1944, USA got the bomb but no reason to use it.
Russia is fine but no reason or means to go anywhere.
Japan is licking its wounds, but doesn't have the national trauma associated with having two of their cities reduced to crap.
Germany however has the spoils of war, namely Poland, France and UK with maybe a bit of northern Africa and all that stuff. BUT since Russia and USA got out of the war before they could get a real kick in the shins, you have to downsize your atrocities department because the last thing you want tto give them is a good excuse to whack you because after all, that president may lose the next election to a guy with different hobbies, like nuking the shit out of Frankfurt or Hamburg. This would lead to a situation like all the other lingering despots who are currently in line to wake up in a bed full of lead because someone organized a revolution over Twitter, but nothing as drastic as organized genocide, because that shit doesn't fly with President McBomb or some of the racially more diversified neighbours.

We don't have to. We just do because it's practical to have a second language.

It just wouldn't have been possible. Even if they did succeed, they would have collapsed shortly after trying to govern such a big area with everything gone to hell after the war.

In a word, unimaginably.
Think of the differences that a small change in your own past could've made to your present and that of everyone you've interacted with since, and increase by several orders of magnitude.
