It's not the weekend yet?
It's only thursday, try again on saturday.
It says the free weekend is on now. Try reading my post.
I did reading your post, I just don't understand how it could be a free weekend if it's not the weekend yet.
What part of 'the free weekend is on now' dont you understand?
The "weekend" when it's not a weekend part.

And it's probably not north america exclusive, valve doesn't do that kind of stuff.

I dont want to buy the fucking orange box, I just wanted to give TF2 a quick play this weekend. Call me an idiot but im kinda selective about what software I install on my hard drive. This looks like a ruse by steam to sign people up.
You have to have steam to download the game, you don't however need the entire orange box.

Somebody's a little cranky. If you want to play, you have to download some of Valve's client software. They're a pretty major company, fairly reputable. If you're concerned about spyware, just run your virus program of choice and uninstall everything after the free weekend. And maybe try expressing yourself without so much cursing. It has its place, but when used gratuitously it just makes you seem like a jerk to people who are offering legitimate help and questions. The name calling is pretty juvenile too. Time and place, my friend. Time and place.

I'm not paying for this fucking shitty looking game, a free go for a weekend I'll have a crack at but why the fuck do I have to install a load of Valves fucking client software on my hard drive under this pretence of a free weekend. Fucking bull shit.
Whoa, whoa, there tiger calm down. Just try tomorrow if that doesn't work delete the game, and re-install it.

Buy it. Play it. If you still think its shitty then write to Valve. I'm sure they'll give you a refund.

You know that scene in silence of the lambs when miggs spunks and throws it into Jodie Fosters hair? Thats whats happening here. Valve is throwing spunk into my hair.

I'm sure they are. As a successful company I'm sure they're dedicated to making your life a misery.

I can't explain how hard this made me laugh. I understand your sentiment but unfortunately have to report your post anyway.

Anyway, what you do, is you go to the part where it says "PLAY NOW~~~" and then it takes you to the "half price, 10 dollars off!" page.

At that point, you do NOT add it to the cart, you hit "Play it Now" again.

I've included a screenshot for you.

Your download starts when you hit that.

Well, I just finished downloading it and I've played a couple games of it already. I didn't have any problems.

Oh give me strength, I'm not a moron. When I click the 'play now' button I just get a small screen that says 'Hey buddy, we're Valve and we're cunts, you have a pre-installed copy of this game want to buy it now?'. Theres a purchase this game now button (which takes me back to the screen I came from) and nothing else.

I rarely say this, but please cut back on the swears, not only are you weakening their value, but you are coming off as abrasive and idiotic. The client software you are referencing is Steam, which all Valve games on the PC run through. It is used to organize your online profile, backup copies to your pc in a way that allows you to run a game without the disc (as the game is registered to your account, they see no threat of piracy here), and yes, buy games. I would say that you may enjoy it, so give it a shot =D. The reason you need to download Steam is that the offer is being sent through it, and so without, you would be unable to use it. Also, in order to play TF2, you need a Steam account- this is because your username and online settings are organized via Steam.

One last thing: why are you getting so upset? You are being offered a free game for a few days. It doesn't matter if the people giving it to you are having a few problems doing so (though I think your problem may be in between your computer monitor and your chair), the point is that they are giving you something for free, and you needn't be so ungrateful. It would be like if I gave you a sandwich out of nowhere, and you complained about there being no pickles...its not like you even need to eat the sandwich. And you don't need to play this game. So stop complaining, as you are not out anything here.

Ok to run with your sandwich analogy. Say someone comes up to you with a fucking delicious looking foot long sub, all gooey and bulging with meatballs and alot of your friends are saying 'this sub is good man' and the guy holding says: 'you can have a taste of this sandwich, for free, just give me your email address and install this software on your PC'.
Now, you might be a little seduced by those meatballs and your friends testimony to the sandwiches quality but when you go to take a bite you're just eating a DICK!

What? The steam install takes like five minutes at most. And it seems to run fine for just about everyone else. If you really hate Valve so much for letting you play TF2 for a free weekend, then go do something else. It's not like the software is going to give you a virus. It is from a legit company, with tons of people already on board.

Sure, the steam install takes a few minutes and while you're busy missing the point let me just say that if I offered to give you something for free and then reneged on that promise you'd be a bit pissed off no?
