Take a "caffeine nap", drink a large quantity of caffeine, then take a 10-15 min nap (you don't need to go to sleep, just zone out for a little bit). It works wonders for me, just don't do it too often...

I'm an expert on this. First things first, don't think about the fact you've pulled an all nighter, just carrying on doing stuff like it's a normal day. If you think about it your brain starts to work against you (tired, need sleep, drowsy!). Have the odd coffee here and there (but don't drink loads or you'll feel very lethargic later) then when the time rolls around for you to sleep again, you'll do so soundly.

it's not good if your body&mind get tired.

if u don't get tired (anti-melatonine)it's not a big problem. but otherwise not recommended.

OT:coffee & gaming.

You'll fall asleep. Face it, you are your body's *****. If it wants a rest, you will fall asleep..even if it kills you.

Keep yourself entertained.
When you reach the point that you're too tired to be entertained by anything, stand up and do a lot of walking around.
S'what I always do.

You probably aren't going to be saddled with headaches all week if you consume any caffiene, though, so you might as well go nuts with that.

Keep yourself up with whatever combination of caffeine/stimulants you are comfortable with.

And catch up on your sleep as soon as possible. You probably won't be back to normal for a few days.

Coffee and a cold shower helps a bit, but you will eventually fall. Even when you are not really "sleeping", you will get to a point were your body and your brain function at different speeds.

Your objective then is to delay that moment until tonight. Then use the first change you get to go to bed early (skip dinner) and get some sleep.

So I pulled an all nighter, and now I'm not sure what to do to keep myself up today. Got any tips there Escapists?
Get back into a regular sleep pattern as soon as possible. I pulled an all nighter a few weeks ago and my body clock got shot to hell, I missed a load of lectures that week and had to meet with the head of undergraduate studies to discuss my missed lectures. I'm fine now since I made a point of sorting out my bedtimes but you need to do that ASAP. I recommend drinking coffee today and basically trying to stay awake until your regular bedtime. Then go to bed at the same time as usual and try and wake up tomorrow at the same time as usual. Keep on like that, just forcing yourself back into a normal routine, and you should be fine within a few days. But that needs to start right now.

If you're sitting down, try keeping both feet off the ground constantly. It is actually quite difficult, and the mild discomfort will usually keep a person awake for as long as they can keep it up.

I did the same thing the other night and had work the next day. I felt like I was on acid, the light kept changing and everything seemed strange. But as long as you keep moving you won't fall asleep. I crashed hard around 6pm though, woke up at 4am. It's a vicious cycle!

you need only two things, sheer force of Will and a shot of Adrenaline. For the adrenaline part, you will need to either get very excited or get the shit scared out of you, or to go to the gym or go for a run. But if you are like most normal people and arent used to sleep deprivation, your stomach will feel like crap, you will not have an appetite and will feel very sluggish.

it will get to the point though that only your determination will keep you up.

used to be a trucker and still am a swing shift worker. Ciggerttes and caffine help in the short term but the only thing that can keep me awake for the long term is physical activity. Mostly something repetitive where your brain shuts off but the body keeps going. Some sort of chore that requires no thinking. All other suggestions I have would are illegal.

your body knows when it needs sleep. When you're tired, you'll be tired. Trust millions of years of bio-evolution.
/thread.

That's it. You're done. You need sleep to function properly from day to day and when you don't get any sleep, you're gonna be tired. No amount of tea/coffee/redbull or any of that shit will help.

You want a tip? Go to sleep.

Yeah, I keep having those schedules all the time. I will keep going to sleep later every day, sleeping fewer hours per night, until a day off when I sleep until like 7-8 pm and then My schedule gets messed up and I start going to sleep AFTER college and waking up in the middle of the night :Z
