How do you coup with pain?

I try to sleep it off if it isn't too bad. Otherwise I do solitary, engaging sorts of things like videogaming, or writing, or drawing, or watching TV/movies, or reading. I don't so much like hanging around people because I get snappy when I'm not distracted.

EDIT: Emotional pain is something I have to actually deal with to cope with. I've cried my fair share of times, and I always feel better when I figure out what's really bothering me and addressed that issue.

You jumped off a house?! um...why would you consider that a good idea?
It was a horrible idea, but I'm a sucker for jumping off things.

I don't coup with pain at all. I coup with chickens.

And then I count. I count the coup.
...never trust the chickens

I would recomend Minecraft you can sit in a cumfortable chair with your leg up and before you realize it 2 weeks will have passed youve lost 14 pounds and no one will come near you because you desperately need a shower.
That's exactly what I've been doing, never really had the time to play it at length either so this works out damn well.

I sleep through it.

Usually a giant headache or something, I'll wait for a moment when the pain elapses and try to sleep through it.

Emotional? I troop on through it. Marijuana helps, but it's rather temporary.

I'm working with a new theory of just not giving a shit anymore. Modesty doesn't get you far.

I focus on it and suppress it until it goes away. Nothing fancy, I just mentally push it out.

I cope with physical pain by using either ice packs or heating pads depending on the nature of the pain. If it's sore muscles from physical activity I'll use a heating pad. If it's due to an injury I'll use ice packs.
For emotional pain I'll just sit on the couch or lie in bed all day watching t.v. and taking the occasional shower.

I tolerate it. I have an abnormally high pain tolerance due to having horribly flat feet that had to be surgically corrected when I was 14. So that was roughly 13 years of nearly constant pain. After that long, you stop giving a shit.

EDIT: in other words, nothing special, I just go through my day.
I have to agree with you. I seriously injured my back 9 years ago and live with the resulting chronic pain. I have learned to accept and tolerate it. Pain pills are crap and don't do anything for the pain, they just make me stupid...

The same goes for emotional pain. You have to face it, allow yourself to think about it, and let yourself move on.

I swear to myself, get pissed and try harder. I aspire to be a marine, and I've been building up my pain tolerance pretty well. Mental/ emotional pain, I don't deal with well. I mostly turn into more of an asshole.

I suck it up and play something to distract me. I have scoliosis and kyphosis which frequently give me back pain. On top of that, I get chronic migraines, so bad I can't see. Painkillers don't generally work for me.

I just tell myself that pain is useless for me at this moment in time, because I know I'm injured. It tends to lighten the sensation, but obviously some pain must remain to make sure I don't forget.

Meditation.

Slow your breathing. Focus on your breathing until your mind is reasonably clear of stray thoughts. Now focus on your pain. Examine your pain. Is it a sharp stabbing pain? A throbbing pain? Itchy pain? Once you can describe how your pain feels the next step is accepting it. You know how your pain feels and right now you're in pain. It happens. It's part of you.

By opening up to your pain and shortly experiencing it fully in all it's painy agony you desensitize yourself to it. It stops being a negative feeling needing attention right NOW. It starts being just the way things are.

I coup by facing the pain and shouting my defiance, then using a traditional coup stick to strike it and dare it to retaliate.

If you mean Cope, distraction is good.

Well, we normally try to rally supporters to out cause to start. We've never got past that stage yet.
