If you have DX10 you have DX9...>.<

And you don't know what Title means in terms of registration? Think Jordan.

You know as i am in my second year in high school, teacher was telling us that we should prepare for our job for when we leave and i want to be come a game designer and hopefully be creating my own game ideas within years after but i dont know where to start,
with the price crunch thing money is a tight subject, so does anyone know any game software that will teach me and maybe let me create my own games?
You should try looking at this site:

www.devmaster.net

There are loads of open source game engines if you don't want to spend any money. Blender is basically an all in one package; modelling texturing, animation with a built in game engine.

Truespace is now free and is a decent modelling and animation package. You ideally want to check out some books on the subject though.

You could try some mods. Unreal 3 comes with the Unreal 3 engine and you can get plenty of tutorials online.

Game design is very difficult to get into, you'll have to get a good portfolio together, flash is a good way to get your games out in the world, and because of the playerbase you'll be able to get almost instant feedback on how good your games are.

This thread is probably dead but anyway, im 13 too and maby its too early but im also thinking of getting a career in game programming. http://www.roblox.com is a realy fun way to start learning about how scripting languages work... it may seem totaly un related at first, but you can create your own games using premade models and then use the Lua scripting language to make them do certian functions. What i like the most about it is that its multiplayer, so you can try out other peoples games with other real people.I also like the satisfaction that you get out of making an exploading brick or something. I realy recomend it.
