I am a really social person and if I sit home for 24 or more hours I become insane and depressed from boredom and loneliness :(

I WANT TO GO TO A CLUB, GET DRUNK AND HAVE A WILD TIME DAMMIT! [small]:'([/small]
I never understood that sort of mentality. I'm the exact opposite. If I'm with people for more than 2.4 hours I start getting bored and everyone starts to irritate me and I need to go home before I get depressed.

AWESOME PEOPLE DESERVE TIME TO THEMSELVES, NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU WANT THEIR ATTENTION, DAMNIT!

You see, I'm a misanthrope, autist with alexithymia. That explains it all...
Hmm, never heard of Alexithymia [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexithymia]. It sounds kind of interesting. Like a real-life Vulcan, or something =) Heh, sorry if that's insensitive.

I don't really get lonely anymore. Probably due to having a significant other. Though I also think it's got to do with gaining confidence in who I am, what my hobbies are, and where I draw my worth.

I just speak to someone. On the phone, on the internet, whatever. It helps if they are someone I care about and can openly express my feelings with.

It might just be me, But I love to make alter-egos...

Before you call me a weirdo think about it if the personaility are tailored made by you then you can make them perfect to your needs, So if I was you then I would get a sock give it some eyes then create it a personaility.

Makesure you pick it all though from political views to religous.

Your favourite music, while you barbecue a nice steak, beer in hand. Alternatively, a hot bath, video games, or masturbation.

Well, when I'm all by myself, I do whatever the hell I feel like doing. I usually just play really loud music and go mental.

I don't really get lonely to be honest. If I get bored while I'm alone I usually play guitar/piano, or just read a book. If none of those are available then I usually just end up day-dreaming for a few hours.

I'm all alone, because every friend I could go and see is on holiday...
So I come on here, and feel happy, because you guys are awesome!

I've tried that. It's so much fun. But I had to stop when my family got worried.

Give your heart to Jesus. You'll never be alone again.
^- This would probably do the trick. Them religious types do tend to make happier peoples.

Yeah. Happier people indeed.

On topic, how do I deal with loneliness?

The same way that everyone else doesn't.

"Everyone gets lonely."

Not everyone. I'm quite comfortable with being alone.
There's a big difference between 'alone' and 'lonely'.

OP;
I... don't know, really. I have my family around me, yeah, but I do feel quite lonely sometimes. It comes and goes; usually I distract myself with computer games or the internet, other times I feel fine.

See, I'm a strange creature, if I go for more than say three hours without speaking to someone, disregarding sleep of course, I start talking to myself. It's a strange habit but it helps somewhat. This developed into my habit of mimicing voices, and as such, I often speak to myself as Gollum, Gluttony, or Colonel Mustang.

Alot of what people have mentioned as ways to temporarily curb the feeling, like playing games for ten hours, but once I stop it comes back harder than ever.

Why not read a book?
Reading books/watching TV/movies/anime ect all make me feel inadequate, as my own life is nowhere nearly as exciting or interesting. It sounds stupid, it is stupid, but I still do these things regardless of how it makes me feel.

I'm a uni student, University of Newcastle, NSW to be accurate, where abouts can I find new friends? The people in my classes rarely share interests with me or bore me, and after a semester I have made probably three friends out of the hundred or so I have actually met.

I listen to breathe carolina and browse forums and comedy sites.

I would go see my friends, but I always feel weird turning up unannounced, as well as asking to come round. I just feel really uncomfortable for some reason, even with friends ive known all my life
