I've been a coffee drinker since I was about 13 (really, I have) and for about 3 months it was white, no sugar, then it changed to black, no sugar.

I have yet to try a coffee (or coffee-flavoured food) I didn't like, so I doubt I can be very helpful here. Maybe just go for the standard coffee, 2 teaspoons of sugar and some milk? It seems to be the most common style, and I assume there is a reason for that.

I'm 27 and I've never had coffee. Coffee is for grown-ups.
Instantly made me think of this XD http://www.beaverandsteve.com/comics/BnS_338.png

Incidentally I drink coffee with milk two sugars and through a straw to the bemusement of most. I like the taste but the feel on my front teeth puts me on edge if I don't have access to a toothbrush.
Ha! I got a good chuckle out of that.

First of all, WHY Starbucks? WHY introduce yourself to coffee with Starbucks??

Due to the lack of want for me to get milk, and the poverty of being a student, I've taken my to drinking my coffee black (if its my good stuff that's worth tasting), or with a bit of sugar (if it's my basic stuff).

If I buy a coffee from a shop, I pour in about half a teaspoon of milk and one sugar. Yes, obsessive, but I'm kinda allergic to dairy and I think the tiniest bit makes a great difference.

I drink my coffee straight and strong :D

... but yeah most people don't seem to care for black coffee, though I can't understand why.

"Black as night, sweet as sin"

The bitter taste is something you grow to enjoy, just like how some music can take awhile before you appreciate it.

Its the same for beer as well, but Id highly reccommend growing accustomed to both.

And if you dont mind me asking, why was coffee "forbidden"?

EDIT= And yeah starbuck coffee is pants, buy yourself a cafetiere (one of the little push plunger ones) and some proper ground coffee- the fresher the better.

I can't stand strong coffee. Not only does it taste bad, but I also get stomach aches from it. I love the caffeine, though. Half the time it's the only thing keeping me awake and motivated to do things. The way I usually drink my coffee is with lots of sugar and milk, but if I'm ordering from, say, Tim Hortons, I take it double-double (two milk, two sugar) because they tend not to make it as strong as my family does.

I prefer the taste of tea, frankly, but I don't have the time or resources with me to make it usually and none of the local coffee places carry good tea. I mean, yeah, Tim Hortons has Chai tea, which I like, but they don't make it correctly.

I'm not a coffee drinker, but when I do I always drink it black without sugar or with whiskey for added taste.

To me this a wonderful example of something that has bugged me for a while: namely why is Tim Horton's coffee so popular?

You have stated that you don't like strong coffee, but that Timmy's is still too weak...

How anyone can drink that dishwater is a mystery to me.

Typically:

One and a half heaped teaspoons of decent-quality instant coffee, with boiling water added to it, then a splash of milk and two sweeteners.

So I stopped in Starbucks and decided to just start basic: a regular coffee (brown) with no cream, sugar, or nothing.
Ordering black coffee was not where you faltered, ordering it from Starbuck's was. As far as I'm concerned, black and strong is the only way to go.

I'm 19. Never had coffee before the other week when we got the monstrosity of a coffee machine at work... I wish I hadn't, it removed from the mystery that was coffee! It didn't taste nice and the device which produces it is the bane of my life.

I drink mine black, it can really kick you up the ass if you're tired/groggy.

If that's Scotch whiskey you're talking about then that's just a complete waste and you should feel ashamed you dirty heathen.

Raised in a Mormon household- caffeine was as welcome as cocaine. Except soda, for some reason. I guess that's just because it doesn't contain anywhere near as much. But I've long stopped caring about the various "why's" when it comes to my parent's religion.
