I escape into other worlds, through literature, games and films, shame I can't find my way back into the "real" one.

How to escape: By realising that the world isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. TV is all about sensational, shocking stories so all the good that goes on in the world is hidden. The trick is to remember it's there. If you have problems trying to find the good side of things just go outside at midday... enjoy the sun, the skies, trees, mountains.

I play video games and read books but not an escape.. I just like the stories and challenges.

well recently i discovered a liking for rum and plenty of it does seem to help... also running off into the middle of nowhere and swearing at the top of my voice does have some theraputic effects...

This is gay but I actually use lucid dreaming. I don't tell my friends because it is such a gay thing to have learned, but it's neat enough...

Oh yeah and weed

If things do get too much for me then I usually go on the 360/PC and kick intergalactic ass while listening to ridiculously loud music.

It works for me (and I'm a perfectly stable and productive member of society).

hmm, some of these solutions are ones I'd never have thought of, I must try the manic laughter and "seeing the good side" some time.

Seeing as I never said what I do to escape I'll tell one of meny things; I talk to friends, conversation is always a good way to distract me from the real worlds problems even when we talk about real word problems, talking about them is a way of seeing it from the outside like watching a building get demolished, not pleasent to be involved with but cool to see happen a few hundred yards away.

Any more things ways to escape to a world of make belive we've overlooked?

There may be a whole lot of wicked shit going on in the world, but those things are so far away fromme, and even though i've seen or heard it on the news/papers, thinks such as assaoults, wars, murder and all the otehr evil stuff that goes on doesn't affect me more than a bit of outrage, sad but true... i think everyone with a TV or internet has gotten "used" to hear about such things.
So i don't have to escape an evil world, i actually like my life very much, theres shitloads of fun stuff to do, and i have the time to do it
But i do do all sorts of stuff to prevent myself from getting bored.

This man is wise far beyond his years.

Watch the news, read the tabloids, see all the shit that's pumped out by the media, and you could be forgiven for believing that human existence is as shit as can possibly be. The trick is to not be deceived by it all, don't be lured by the worlds arbitrary versions of value and valueless, good and bad. If you go out, and can find real pleasure in the real world around you then you will find that everything is not so bad. This [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.96167] was a real world experience that might seem trivial, but was truly wonderful and was something I would never want to escape from. Op - find something in life to enjoy, cherish, and love, and then you won't desire to escape from it any longer.

Do not watch/read the news. Simple as that. Ignorance is bliss, and knowledge is depressing.

Games and books help a lot. Also not paying attention to all the shit also helps.
