It's alright but ofcourse there are some people who are over the top WAY TOO FUCKING OBSESSED! It's not the only thing in the world kay? Some stuff is good and some stuff is crap, Naruto and Bleach for example are CRAP. I don't care what you say, Naruto esspecially is shit and I have seen enough episodes to know this.

This strikes me as a question similar to "How do you feel about books?" and "How do you feel about movies?" It depends on which one we're talking about specifically.

Yawn. Complete "meh" disinterest. I don't actively dislike it (except when anime fans, who I swear are incapable of holding a conversation about anything that isn't anime and manga, start jabbering about it), but it just falls under my overall disinterest in Japanese culture (I like sumo, sushi, and Iron Chef. End of list.)

Anime to me is:

Awesome
Touching
Weird
Funny
Bad
Horrifying

And for the most part entertaining, like most other forms of media.

I like the art style. There's something about it that places it above American comic illustration for me. Can't quite figure out what it is.

Although, a lot of the recent stuff is starting to all look the same. It's either harems or some random jackass guy getting some beautiful goddess to "guard" him or some shit. ¬__¬

I would say I am a fan. For a while I leaned heavily toward manga, but lately I've been watching more and more.

The first one you watch is mindblowing

after about 10 of them you wonder why cant all television be like this.

Then one day you realize you have better things you can do with your time than watch the same thing that after counting you realize you literally have seen a thousand times before.

Its odd because when you first see it seems so abstract, different and even alien to your sensibilities. It really doesnt take long to realize that its a repetitive mess and is just as regurgitative as tv from elsewhere.

I mean hell, half of tv tropes stems from anime, its THAT repetitive.

I've always liked anime, just not the die hard community that's become associated with it. And I've become a bit disconnected with anime because more and more they're starting to pander to that same community... a lot of which comes from the concept of 'fanservice'.

Here's what I mean. 20 years ago, you'd have a show like Ranma 1/2, not necessarily meant as a 'mature' series but would occasionally have bits of nudity. It wasn't pandering to the audience or trying to be sexy or anything, the series creator is a women afterall, but usually used as a gag or just because, giving the sense that the Japanese didn't think anything was wrong with it.

Fast forward to today, where a lot of anime gets exported, and nudity is treated with the same 'Western' value that it's shameful to show to something anyone under 18 may see. Yet at the same time, the sexual objectification (more or lease softcore teasing) has increased like ten fold for the same genre. I guess that's great if you're the sort of person that likes the stuff but it's annoying to see and gives it a bad image for the rest of us.

lets just say I subscribe to crunchyroll. but I don't go around shouting it from rooftops like some anime fans. Like most of the things I enjoy, I know it's weird so I don't talk about it.

the anime I'm most interested in right now is "The World God Only Knows", funny show bout a gamer ironically.

There are so many different varieties that I can't really make a general statement. There have been quite a few that I've enjoyed such as Dragon Ball/Z/GT (my favourite 3), Full Metal Alchemist, Code Geass, Gundam Seed Destiny (Someday I'll actually get around to finishing the original series), among others; however there are some that I just don't get like any of those harem animes. I can't stand those.

Not really my thing however I do enjoy watching shows like Dragon Ball or DBZ (Though I favour the FUNamtion dub so I'd probably be lynched to death by the hardcore anime crowd)... Other then that though its not really my cup of tea.

I don't know why but I just can never really get into them.

I really don't like it. My childhood memories are basically made of Western cartoons, anime never stood a chance to seem good to me.

Plus, I know what I'm like with being a fan of stuff. When I like something, I really like something. So... well, you remember that guy who married his anime pillow?
Yeah, I don't want to risk it.

Pokemon and Digimon are accepted though, but only because they were shown amongst the other cartoons.
