How do you feel about being quoted?

I get way too excited. In a way whenever I see it, I think

"HOLY CRAP SOMEONE SOMEWHERE CARES ABOUT SOMETHING I SAID!!!!"

I always feel dissapointed whenever I have a genuinely intuitive or interesting thought and no one quotes me or responds. I also notice no one replies to my video posts even though they are extremely relevant to the topic, much to my annoyance.

I usually feel a mix of happiness that someone found my post worthwhile and apprehension that I said something ignorant or just plain unintelligent.

I think those are the only quotes I get: people who agree with me, or think I'm a moron (or at least give me a reason to think I'm a moron).

It happens every so often. The little box tells you you have one new message, it's in the quoted folder. How do you feel?

For me I get the excitement of having said something important enough for someone to want to reply or expand on what I've said. That and the worry that I've posted something sounding quite aggressive and it's going to be someone calling me out on being a prick.

So, how do YOU feel?
How do YOU feel about me quoting you right now? I feel happy, because it means that somebody took the time to read my post, and they most likely have put more thought into their response than the person who just writes a one sentence response with only tangential connection to what I am trying to convey.

I get excited usually, except when it is a redundant argument that has been going on for a while and there is no way I will change the poster's mind or because they want to argue about minor details (like wording) rather than the actual argument.

It was fun the first few times. Had some people who agreed with me. Had some that most certainly did not! But it got old pretty quickly. I just feel a brief flicker of interest now.

I've come to dread being quoted, given the amount of unpolite and asinine posts one finds around this forum in the last few months.

But the disagreeing ones who actually polite about it are very welcome still.

I'm not sure anymore. I was recently quoted by some douchebag that pointed out the fact that I called the United States of America "America" for short, as many people do, and decided I had one to many chromosomes (down syndrome [nerdgasm]). I though such trolls kept to themselves at 4chan and I was safe from them here, but it seems I was misinformed. Now I fear next time I get quoted it could just be another trolling idiot.

Was nice to see he got warned though.

Huh, funnily enough I actually was just replied to by someone in another thread--how coincidentally relevant!

Anywho, after performing a variety of different experiments I realized that I feel quite annoyed and disappointed, because being something akin to a troll, when people quote me it's usually to tell me how wrong I am about something, or level up their own internet phallus by getting out a thesaurus and typing a smug line or two.

I get pretty happy enough.

Someone read what I posted and wanted to comment on it specifically!

That's what I aim for usually so it's a great thing to happen.

i think:
it's either
1.some who basically says "this" in more or less words
2.someone who disagrees with me and spend another 100 or so words pointing why my opinions make me something.
3. Me failing at irony again

I like it, it notifies me that a thread is progressing and something I mentioned is being read by others which then ropes me back into the discussion to read it.

I enjoy debate so it's nice to see for me.

However I have a bit of a grating personality so it's not unusual for people to move from aruging to insulting me, which can be a little bit annoiying.

I love being quoted.

Whenever I see that little stripe of red text a switch in my brain flips over to "happy". Suppose it's because it means that someone thought my post was worth responding to.

It's especially nice when I log on in the morning and there's a whole bunch of them waiting.

"You have 14 new messages". Yay, confirmation!

I don't usually accept this community's standard, accepted, approved political views and when I'm quoted its always about that, so yeah I hate being quoted. No one cares what I have to say about fun stuff.

I used to get excited that someone would actually quote me. Now I usually don't care about it. Now its just an extra couple mouse clicks to make that new message message dissapear. I still take the time to read each one though. I would feel like an dick if I didn't take the time so see what somebody wrote in response to a post I made.

of course, the quote is usually something like "i disagree with your statement" and the reply is usually "but it is in fact so" and i want to slap myself for getting excited over something so trivial. but i dont, because my arm's angle and position is unsuited for slapping my own face.
I relish the little notations that tell me someone responded to my post, especially if they disagree with me, and we can have a debate. Other than that, I tend towards sadness when people DON'T respond to posts I put a lot of thought into, like they are just responding to people who quote them and ignoring other posts... That happens a lot.
