Despite all the goodwill they deserve for Steam and all it entails, I have to dock Valve for completely fucking over anyone who reasonably expected 'episodic' to mean 'timely'.

People, chill the fuck out. Half life 2 was in developement for 6 years. Stop tracking Half life 3 (they probably won't even release episode 3) so fanatically. It will help you endure the wait.
I also want another HL more than anyone but It's okay with me if we need to wait for another 2 years because I know that Valve will make good use of that time and give us another great game.

Yeah, I second that. At this stage a full sequel on a new engine would be the only way it won't be a huge let-down.

They probably mean it in the sense of it's supposed to be episodic and yet it's taking longer than certain games. But yes, it's still silly as DNF have been developed for a decade and a bit.

OT: I never finished Half Life 2, never got too gripped by it and it's the only game I ever get motion sick playing, a combination which gives me very little motivation to play.

Duke Nukem Forever has been in development for over 10 years, Half-Life Episode 3 has "been in development" for 3 or 4 years... frankly the Valve Boys could do worse. Hell unlike 3d Realms they've actually put out some PRODUCT since their last Episode, so I'm cool with it.
