I haven't really taken the time to get to know anyone, but I feel that most of the people here are relatively intelligent, and good people besides. This is one of my favorite places to be online.

Most of the people I've spoken to on this site have been boss. Intelligent people putting their opinions across in an interesting and well thought out way.
Yeah - there's a lot more right-wing/conservative people on this site than I thought there would be. I found that quite shocking. I was actually staggered by a recent debate on here (not going to tell you which one, lest it spring up again in this thread). That being said, I can respect other peoples differences of opinion - I might not always agree, but it's not like these people are cramming their beliefs down my throat.
I enjoy spending time on these forums on the whole. Even though I don't post a lot, I do lurk about and read other peoples stuff. Everyone seems really nice and even though most people don't really know one another, there's a real sense of community and solidarity amongst the majority of posters.
Now that all the mushy stuff is out of the way, let's get down to business. How do we overthrow the world's governments and install Yahtzee as our puppet overlord? That's what I signed on for, after all.

Cool guys, beautiful women, a place where I can be nerdy without people looking at me funny, and teaching some of you teenagers what's what about life sure beats the hell out of volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club.

I feel rather irritated at the elitism sometimes, but any dislike is overridden with respect for their/your intelligence.

I've made some nice friends on here and had fun times (that trip to London was the best). People here are generally quite nice and have some smart opinions.There are a couple of people who can be annoying, but that's true with anywhere.

I think Escapist is a pretty cool guy, eh has intelligent opinions and respect others and doesn't afraid of anything.
Well, I like this place for the geekness. This is the only place I know I could tell jokes starting with things like "Renè Descartes walks into a bar" without getting funny looks because nobody got it.

People are generally cool. I like the community. Otherwise I wouldn't have stayed here this long. I was already chased off the now defunct Nintendo Nsider forums and the Gamespot forums by console flame warriors. But there will be threads sometimes were everyone loses it and act like self-important dicks *cough 9/11 thread cough*.
I call it Angry Nerd Syndrome. Ever since there have been a few internet celebrities that use the Angry Nerd personas for comedy (Yahtzee, AVGN, MovieBob), people think they're being intelligent if they write things like this:

Also, anyone who isn't an atheist is a fucking pretentious cockbag that probably masturbates to god and Jesus. Now, where was I going? Oh, yes. Movies should only be art, because fun is for fucktards, retards, smacktards, and fagtards. All other movies are like slapping a donkey with a lobster while riding an elephant filled with cheese. Fuck anything else.

- Excessive swearing
- Overuse, and usually misuse, of the thesaurus
- Use of the word "pretentious"
- Metaphors that make no damn sense
- Offensive language other than swearing (retard, fag, etc.)
- Wearing a turtleneck sweater in summer
If people would stop with this behaviour, the Escapist would be perfect. But perfection is pretty much impossible, so I'll take these people over anyone else on the internet any day.
