As an avid lover of JRPG's, I encounter this problem a lot. I'm used to it though. My 2 best friends despise JRPG's, so I'm used to dealing with it. Kinda just rolls off my back.
The same goes with me as well, but with RTS games. Although I do like the fact he asks other people (The imps he calls "friends") who like RTS's to comment in. (As seen in the Brutal Legends short)

Uhm... I don't think it's wise or healthy to 'lik' games... As for Yahtzee's opinion on games that I play, I don't think that he's really ever played any game that I have. Besides, he's a comedian and I usually just keep his opinions in mind for when I do get to play them, then generate my own if that makes any sense.

It's happened the other way a couple of times with me, where he liked a game that I hated; Killer7 and Zack & Wiki are the two that stick out in my mind, but there are others. Either way, it doesn't alter my opinion, especially since a lot of times his reasons are surprisingly baseless; he'll claim that a given game has flaws that simply don't exist, which confuses me, but I guess he doesn't let reality get in the way of a good joke.

Different opinions. I happen to not give a flying fuck :D
Agreed. Plus I find it kind of cool to see other peoples (especially Yahtzee's 'comical' ones) opinions on the games I like.

Well I never "lik" my games, however Yahtzee gave a mediocre review of MGS4, which is my #2 all-time favorite game. His points were valid but as with all his reviews, his main focus in on the negative aspects of a game and he didn't even go in to the engaging story, fantastic gameplay, and incredible graphics. Perhaps, playing games from a reviewers perspective makes games less immersive.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion. If you really enjoy a game you shouldn't be affected by the opinion of someone else.

I tend to avoid the practice of licking games. I don't think the taste of plastic is getting the most out of my gaming experience.

Eh, it's his job as a critic to rip through the game picking up any flaw. If he went easy on them then his reviews would be shit. If he absolutely despises a game that I enjoy (which actually hasn't happened yet), I don't really care that much; if I have fun with it why should his opinion sway me? Often he picks up on flaws in games that I agree with, but still play the game anyway.

I laugh at the heavy handed sarcasm, nod a bit at the few weak points of the game in question, then shuffle it away in my memory membrane as vaguely funny and further proof that not two people are made the same and opinions and tastes will ever be divided. Then, I will get on with my life and certainly won't create lame threads on some gaming forum about how X persons OPINIONS are wrong since I think differently.
