It'll make me think about games that I'm on the fence about, maybe reinforce some things about games I already own and maybe even like. He's a critic, he's a comedian, and I like to be entertained by the gripes he has.
I personally don't care. He's a critic after all. It's his job to point out mistakes and things. And, as he says in one of his really early reviews, no-one likes him when he's being nice to a game.
His reviews of games are funny to watch. Seriously not going to affect me since my favorite style of games are the kind he hates (JRPGs...Final Fantasy).
i believe him and me both know about the cons and pros of games. its just that some problems in a game are larger then then the good parts to him. like for instance, i dont really find as yahtzee calls it "soullessly staring in your eyes" in fallout 3 as much of a problem. i just agree that he is right about its flaws but i will still like the game for what it does do well.
Being that Yahtzee's pretty right (as I see it) when it comes to a game's flaws if it's something I've missed in a game I figure I'm at fault and Yahtzee's better tuned-in than I am. Maybe that's the self-deprecating guy in me but when it comes to game/movie/book/etc reviewers I respect I tend to figure they're right and I'm wrong.
it never really bothers me he has hated alot of games ive enjoyed i dont really watch he videos to see if a game would be good or not more to watch for the giggles lol
He can hate any thing for all i care. It really does not bother me. MGS4 would be my example. I love the series and he hated it. Good thing it was a funny review.
i think yahtzee doesnt hate most the games he plays. there are some you can tell he loathes but i always thought it was clear that bad things to say doesnt mean he didnt like it

Lots of people here are shrugging Yahtzee off as just a humorist, but I for one think he's not only a real critic, but an excellent critic. And part of what makes him so good and so essential to watch is that he seems to take it as his duty to counter-balance the wet-noodle reviews you get from major gaming sites, almost all of which are utterly useless. Mistakes and bad ideas need to be called out, even when they happen in a good game. I think if you pay attention, it's clear that Yahtzee doesn't actually --hate-- that many games. He just hates pretentiousness and free rides.
well i feel a mix of discomfort as I know i'll be seeing the flaws next time i play,
as well as pure bliss as I know I owned the only game he make people hurt themselves for not playing long before I even knew he existed.
On the whole hasn't happened yet, i've been able to appreciate the flaws he has highlighted in even my most favourite of games. Maybe i'm just as hateful as he is?
His job is get angry and make fun of everything about a game while talking really fast. That's his thing. He gets paid to do it.
Yahtzee is not the say all end all for video games anyways... bottom line is, if you enjoy a game, then fine. What Yahtzee says about it shouldn't hurt your opinion of it.
