A simple question for a simple and lazy Sunday.

Potatoes! They can be prepared so many ways, how do you want yours? Do you boil them? Fry them? Bake them? Do you want them raw? There are infinite ways!

Personally? Fries all the way, particularly those round French ones. Pommes Noisettes or something like that. There is no better way to enjoy some good potatoes.

Now I want fries.. >_<

I want to take potato wedges home with me. They go well with almost any dip or seasoning.

Baked or fried, it doesn't matter - they are the absolute business.

Very true, Potato wedges are also amazing, though they are at their best when they are oven fried in some good oil.

I hope not, raw potatoes are poisonous and can actually lead to coma or even death if consumed in large enough quantities.

As for the topic at hand, my favourite potato-based foods are tied between fries and jacket potatoes, I particularly like the latter with some nice grated Cheddar cheese on top.

Pfft. You would have to eat close to 5 pounds (Possibly less, if you ingested the green sunlight exposed ones) to get a lethal dosage. It's the leaves that are more dangerous anyway, considering they contain higher levels of glycoalkaloids, solanine and chaconine.

Anyway, to answer the original question. Baked.

If there's a way to cook or serve potatoes I don't like, I haven't tried it yet. However, I'm going to have to go for good old roast potatoes. Though I'm not always in the mood to spend so long cooking them when quicker options are available, I find the effort that goes into them is paid back a hundred times over in satisfaction.

I prefer mashed (including pancakes).
Runners up include roasted potatoes with onions, in a vinegar-based potato salad (served hot), potato soup and fries (/w cheese).

Roasted in the fat of whatever meat you're cooking for Sunday lunch. NOM.

But yeah, I can't think of a type of potato I don't love.

Mashed > baked over a fire > fried (in slices) > fries > scalloped potatoes.

I always eat too many mashed potatoes when my family does holiday feasts and I can't really give the other portions the attention they deserve, I just love them so much! I also really dig baked potatoes done over a campfire and frying potato slices. Fries are always good but never quite taste like the sliced homemade fries my Dad is great at making.

Mashed, preferably with a pond of gravy in the center.

Having said that, I do love me some home fries with barbecue sauce as dip. Potato chips are also a good staple for packing my work lunches, though I don't care much for the greasy fingers it leaves you with.

Mmmm, So many choices.
Mashed, Fried, Roasted, Baked, Scalloped, Hashed Browns, Gnocci, Croquettes, Soups...
As an Idahoan, I can confirm that there's just no wrong way to cook a potato.

Same here! I love me some roast potatoes with my roast beef and chicken as long the skin stayed on (my mum is weird for wanting the skin off!).

French and Fried baby! I don't really care much for mashed potatoes. I'm OK with baked potatoes, but their fry form is the best form!

The only way to survive through Band Camp: Mashed.
Gimme a huge scoop, mildly warm, with some salt'n'peppa, bit of melting butter. Soft and fluffy, that simply works with the tongue to be devoured.
Right dere, dat's some good shit.

I really don't care for potatoes. I eat em when served, in any way shape or form, because I eat anything when served. It's just how I was raised. But I don't eat with gusto, I prefer a nice pasta or some rice.

It's possible I dislike fries slightly more than other types though.

I'm not picky with my potatoes. Here's them in order.

-Mashed is my favourite. Can be done regular, but my ideal mashed is garlic (my grandma's Christmas mashed potatoes last year were SPECTACULAR *drools*). I don't mind a little gravy (like if there was a pot roast and some is on my plate) but I don't usually take any.

-Roasted is a close second. I don't recall there ever being roasted potatoes I disliked. As long as they're not burned (I prefer a mild crisp), I'll eat them

-I'm a modest lady who likes her fries drenched in ketchup. Nothing less. Yum! No poutine please. A bit of cheese is fine, but I don't like gravy on fries. No chili either. Potato wedges are great too, so I'll toss that in.

-Baked can be done in various styles. Plain with butter and salt/pepper is good, but I don't mind a little cheese in there

-Boiled is...ok. It depends on the seasoning, but a bit boring.

-Scalloped is ok in moderation. If it's overloaded with cheese and such, it gets me sick.

Well, actually there's one type of potato I disliked. When I was just starting out cooking I tried to bake myself a potato. Turns out I didn't put it in long enough and was suspicious of how hard my potato was to cut. Have you ever taken a bite into a food and realize you made a horrible mistake? That was me. It was even still green near the skin! Eww.

I enjoy them in my stomach.

*ahem*

Seriously, though, hash browns are the bomb. Fry 'em up with some eggs, mix in some fried peppers and sometimes top with a little bit of chopped cheddar. Served with ketchup.

Awesome, every time.
