I don't mind blood, and can't with being a paramedic. I have knelled in a pool of blood while doing CPR on someone in the middle of a road before, and I have suctioned 32 ounces of blood from someones airway during a full arrest before. Even the sight of my own doesn't bother me. When I was going through my classes we had to practice IV's on each other. So I guess I'm cool with it.

i hate it when the doctor puts one of these small things full of my blood on the table right in front of me.

I always get a bit woozy when I see it. Then the screams start and I wake up covered in blood. And thus, the cycle continues :)

Blood in and of itself is not at all scary, but the implication of severe blood loss or injury to another person or animal is a definite and clear cause for concern and fear for their safety.

Mine in small amounts means nothing to me and often leads to some rather... macabre jokes about vampirism and bleeding to death, but in large amounts (having half a litre of blood drawn at ten was less than fun) I don't feel so good. With my animals and other people, surgery I can handle if it not bloody, but otherwise I feel upset, not queasy, but upset.

The first time I ever saw alot of it (like I mean ALOT) it was kind of unsettling and I had a weird desire to try to not get it on me, but like anything else I became used to it after a while.

Umm, im ok i supose. Apart from the natural feeling when you are confronted with blood. I don't particularly ENJOY the sight of blood, but i'm not a faint-on-sight person either.

As for plasters, yes, i still use plasters. I actually quite like plasters for some reason. For instance, at the time of writing this, i have no less that 5 plasters on my hands. Only two of which are covering anything. Theres a another plaster on each plaster holding them in place (i got blisters in awkward places on my hand, so i have to put them between my fingers, which is never comfortable). And one more plaster on my ring finger for the sake of it.

Also, it's only ever my hands that i will plaster. If it's anywhere else, then that sucker can bleed forever for all i care, but the moment i cut my hand BANG plasters everywhere.

Oh, they're fabric plasters by the way. A note to anyone interested: NEVER BUY PLASTERS/BAND-AIDs THAT AREN'T FABRIC. Because i say so. I don't care how water-proof they are, put them back and then go and get some honest, decent fabric ones. Good boy/girl.

Depends on the circumstances.

If its from a bloody nose of mine, which I get frequently enough, I just feel kinda annoyed.

If it's something minor, like a scrape or small cut, I don't mind it.

However, seeing IRL (including pictures) of significant amounts of blood loss do make me feel a little light, depending on the severity.

However, something like getting blood pumped out of me for a donation or testing doesn't phase me too badly- other than the physical (rather than mental) effects of losing said blood.

Blood in video games and other "fake" scenarios, doesn't phase me anywhere near as much- i.e. Chainsawing someone in Gears of War doesn't elicit much of a response from me other.

I give blood as often as possible so I usually get to watch my life source leaving my body by the pint. I don't mind the sight of blood, I've seen several bloody accidents but it's the smell of blood I can't stand. I don't know about anybody else but the smell of blood really freaks me out.

Usually I just say "Dammit I'm bleeding again", and try to stop the blood flow before it makes to much of a mess.

It doesn't bother me at all anymore. It used to when I was younger, I'd flip out a little bit, especially if it came form someone else. Now I just get annoyed if it's coming from me and if it's coming from someone else I just hand them a towel or something.

Although if a lot is pouring out at an alarming rate, car ride!

I am not overly bothered. It just depends on where the blood came from (my blood, someone else's, where the body is leaking from, etc.) and how much it is. The more blood, the angrier I get because I am almost certainly going to be the one conned into cleaning it up.

I let it heal naturally. I never take medicine either and I don't worry about germs. The body can't get better at fighting disease/healing wounds if it never has practice.

I ask because a few minutes ago, I accidentally sliced my finger open while handling a knife and it's bleeding more than I thought it would. So because of the lack of plasters etc, I'm sitting here wiping away excess and I don't remember seeing this thread before. So how do you react to blood, and any stories of you/friends fainting, or anything?

Edit: another thing I was thinking about was that after a certain age I stopped using plasters and just let it dry/heal on its own. Anyone else have that?
I did pretty much the same thing, but with my katana. I was comparing its weight to the weight of a bowie knife I had just got at the time (the bowie was marginally heavier). I was holding the katana by the scabbard and the blade started falling out. Instinct kicked in and I went to catch it. Note to self - never grab sharp things by the sharp bits.

That'd depend on the amount of blood and from who or what its coming from ;)

Other peoples blood? No problem. My blood? I get light headed and eventually faint. Only if, of course, it's a lot of my blood. Little stuff is no big deal.

I have seen a lot of blood in my lifetime. I used to (and still) get lots of nosebleeds. Just last month I found out I am a mild hemophilia (discovered after wisdom teeth removal, it was not pretty). Most of the doctors were shocked that I lived this long without knowing. It really explains a lot.

So I see my blood every once in a while. Unless it is a major bleed, I don't worry. I don't even bother with a bandage, even though I probably should.

My reaction is something like this:

*accidently cuts self*

"Oh yeah... I have blood."

I have seriously forgotten about having blood before because I didn't get cut for so long. Now when I see it, I'm reminded that it's still inside me lol.
