How do you react to loosing a saved game file?

Three different occurrences come to mind for losing save files for me.

First was way back in the day playing through Super Mario 64, managed to get up to around 80ish stars, got bored/stuck so started a new file on one of the blank slots. Came back a few hours later after my brother had been playing to find all the files had been copied over with the new file with only 8 stars. As can be expected, me being a kid at the time there was rage involved.

Second is the countless times I've accidentally overwritten a FFIX save file with a new run through since when you choose a different load the save remains as default over the previous save file. So the need to save asap for whatever reason was followed several times by "bugger, I did it again didn't I?" :/

Finally is ylod on the ps3 which obviously lost all of the save data which included Fallout 3, Oblivion and Disgaea 3 for those with the most time taken to complete. Still technically have a Fallout 3 file which I saved a back-up of but haven't seen what happens when I load it as I saved directly infront of the point lookout dlc and don't have the means to re-download it...
Wasn't too fussed about losing the data as I'd manage to get to the end of the story for most of the games involved and Disgaea's post-game will just be left unexplored unless I get the urge to go through it all again.

I tend to go "Aawww Crap" before just restarting.

With the sole exeption of when my Gamecube memory card corrupted recently. I haven't touched any of them because of the sheer insanity of going back and trying to beat all of them again.

After completing 101% (yes you read that right) on spyro 3 and finally unlocking fire ball my memory card stopped working and everything was erased. Considering that I was 12 at the time I broke down in tears for a good 1-2 hours.
Now if it happened I would just get really pissed and probably don't play for a while

I've lost two important Fallout 3 saves too, both of which were over a hundred hours of gameplay, both times I responded with putting the controller down and going to do something else until I was willing to look at the game again.

I've lost my Hal-Life 2 save, Oblivion saves, and a few others but generally nothing major, or at least nothing with more than 20 hours of gameplay to it's name. Often it just gives me an excuse to play through the game again.

Oh yeah, I just remembered, Pokemon Silver save, 50 hours, soul crushing. My party of perfect level 100s all gone because the battery died.

My brother kept saving over my oblivion files, losing me an hour or so each time. "Accidently". But was seven times an accident?
That sounds like a halo reference to me....
Yeah. In Halo there was totally a brother saving over games :D
I've only ever played the first one, years ago, so I doubt it.

It usually goes something like this:

1.Denial? No no no no! My save did not just poof out of existance! o_O

2.Anger - Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu... D=<

3.Bargaining - Please mister computer, if you bring back my save file I'll give you coffee =D *pours coffee into the computer*

4.Depression - Oh god, both my save file and my computer are gone, gone FOREVER *cries* D=

5.Acceptance - Oh well... I can always start a new game... and buy a new computer... =/

The few times I did it it went like this:

1. Wait... wait... WHAT DID I JUST SAVE OVER?

2. OH HOLY SHIT! HOLY SHIT! PLEASE DONT GO! FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK!!!!!

3. *realized there is no hope* NO! *catch in throat* fuck fuckfuckfuckfuck!!!!

4. Waaaaaaaaahhhhhhh *actually cries*

5. Fuck this game!

**yes everytime I've lost huge saves I have cried because its rare for me to commit to anything that long and I just lost a shitload. Also I tend to be like a 5 year old and cry more often for frustration than sadness.

I don't think I've ever "lost" a save file. I've deleted them and then much later wished I hadn't, but that's about it.

I don't think I?ve had memory deleted/corrupted but a friend has. he's a tekken fanatic and he was unlocking everything for tekken five, his brother played too but one time his brother quit the game and instead of waiting for the console to finish auto saving he flicked the PS2's back switch off.

I told him "you can corrupt memory cards doing that"
Which he then exclaimed "it'll be alright."

It wasn't, man he was pissed.

EDIT: oh i had my halo: Reach campaign reset, that annoyed me but i'd done all the gamerscore on it so it weren't much of a problem.
