I don't share a console with anyone so i don't have the issue of 'Save Sharing'

Most of the time i lose saves is either to my own mistakes or the system messing with me.

The most recent occurance of this was when i was playing Republic Commando. I accidently walked off of a bridge and died- i thought it wasn't a problem since it had autosaved just before. I select the 'Load Last Save function' and it takes me back to when i last last saved several levels before. I try to load the autosave, but it saved over that when i reloaded the save.

Usually my first thought when I discover a lost save game file is: "Dammit." The second thought is "Woohoo! I get to play more to catch up :DD" Sp I don't get too sussed about it. :)

Oblivion. Level 33. My dream character. Friend came over. Tried out Oblivion. Blitzed my save. Found out after he'd gone. Rage.

That's the worst incident, as it was a save I had come to love playing, and had done so for a long time, but nonetheless, in the three days following that, I pushed a character right up to level 45 following some intensive training.

same thing happened to me only I was a level 20.

Sucks, doesn't it? I had gone a fair ways to clearing all the quests too.

I'm not happy at first, but I don't really mind. I usually replay the fuck out of games, and even often restart them before finishing them when I stopped playing for a while. So if I lose a save file, I'm pissed for a few minutes, then I just restart. Since I usually save in multiple slots, if I lose one that would bother me, I don't have that much game time lost.

Now there's the spirit! :)

Wish I was that good of a sport whenever I lose my game files.

Well if it is a Mass Effect file: OH FUCKING HELL and I smash something(luckily it hasn't happened yet) but it really depends on a game. If I've spent a lot of time on the save it gets frustrating but otherwise no.

I personally go through three stages:

1) Rage
2) That horrible cold feeling when you realise that the world has become so temporary and insubstantial that you just sank 100 hours into a toy, 100 hours that were already a waste of time even before all evidence of that 100 hours had been erased. Life crisis ensues
3) (a weeks' soul searching, meaningless sexual encounters and flirtations with all major religions later) Warm, guilty acceptance of the fact that you're going to start it all over again anyway

I recently lost one of my Minecraft saves after it got corrupted (or something. It refused to load up). I raged obviously.
I've lost 3 Minecraft Worlds (minimum) that I spent a large amount of time on, due to my laptop being cursed with vista which likes to freeze and crash and not allow me to do anything when I dare use it to do something that isn't the internet.

Naturally, there has been a lot of sadness, upon returning to the game, to find my blood, sweat and tears erased forever.

How do I react?

By going nuts and getting pissed off me thinks.

Luckily, that hasn't happened to me in a long time.

My brother kept saving over my oblivion files, losing me an hour or so each time. "Accidently". But was seven times an accident?
That sounds like a halo reference to me....

Anger, rarely happend to me though.

An mmo file being lost is a different matter, my main character in warhammer online with 60 days playtime on it, another with 10 and a third with about 15. Thats a shitload of stuff to lose if it does happen.

I'm not sure it can. but there have been errors, where people have had their characters and all items reset. Basicly you go from lvl 40 rr 80 back to lvl 1 and rr 1. My rage would be spectacular :/

I once lost a 500 hour Oblivion savegame where I'd become pretty much the Supreme Overlord of Everything...

Yeah, shit got ruined.

Mostly in disbelief followed by waves of panic and frustration. Pretty sure this happened in Link to the Past often enough, but not much since then as I'm the only one in the family who plays games anymore.
