How do you sleep?

My sleep can best be described as "catatonic." Really, it's a wonder that I wake up at all. I usually get about 7-8 hours of sleep, but if it's the weekend, usually more than I bargain for. I find that if I sleep for more than about 10 hours, I will have a headache all day, no matter how stable my blood sugar/hydration is.

Fortunately, I have a cat who tries to get me up if it's later than 7AM. He sometimes succeeds.

I can sleep, not the greatest of sleeps, but i'm able to.

I usually prefer around 9+ hours of sleep, tend to near an average of 12 to 13 hours when I don't have any responsibilities.

Also, sleeping during the day sucks. You wake up and it's already past the afternoon. You're slow and groggy while everyone else is doing whatever normally. Not to mention the feeling of just not getting anything done and the loss of usable daylight.

As for problems I have sleeping:
- I have a lot of trouble getting to sleep initially. I need an almost dead silent environment. I can deal with white/constant noise as long as it isn't loud or really high pitched, but someone talking in a neighboring room will keep me awake.
- Even in an ideal environment, it usually takes me more than an hour to fall asleep. In the rare circumstance that I'm actually exhausted, it may only take 20-30 minutes.
- I tend to wake back up every 1-3 hours. I rarely have trouble falling back asleep at this point, but it gets really annoying if I start waking up every 30 minutes or less.

And just because I want to say it:
Sleeping in the summertime SUCKS
Everything is hot, sweaty, and uncomfortable.
Fans make me congested for some reason.
An air conditioner in my room makes me nauseous if left on for too long.

When I go to bed and wake up differ week by week. Mostly because I'm unemployed at the moment, with some personal circumstances. That does mean I can get 8~9 hours of sleep a night though. Sometimes about 7, though that's more rare.

I don't even know. Sometimes I sleep decently well, sometimes I can't sleep at all, and sometimes I try to take a nap at around 6 and wake up the next day at 9. I always try to get at least 6 hours a night. the second half of last year I would normally get around 4-5 hours of sleep, though, so that didn't help in the slightest. I also have a thing with being very emotionally needy and requiring something to snuggle up to while I sleep, so usually I just grab a pillow and hug it like some sort of giant teddy bear. I also sleep on my stomach a lot after doing it for like a month straight due to various reasons that I would rather not say that happened very frequently at that time a few years ago.

Was that too much information? I'm gonna say that it wasn't too much information.

I leave my house at around 8:30 AM and come back around 8 - 10 PM. After that, I brush my teeth and fall to sleep within an hour. I work to fall asleep.

I'm a light sleeper most the time. Without any loud noises, I can easily get 10 hours of sleep before my rush to the bathroom.

However, I can't sleep on either of my sides. It hurts after a while and makes me sick for some reason. I also can't find a good way to sleep on my stomach as my arms fall asleep, and I have accidently punched myself trying to get blood back into it.

I usually just pass out when the anxiety becomes too exhausting to keep me up.

This can lead to me falling asleep in some interesting positions or places. Like the driver's seat of a moving getaway vehicle. Or more likely, half in my desk chair and half on the floor.

Very poorly. It seems to take me a couple of hours of staring into the darkness or writhing uncomfortably on my bed to go to sleep, after lying down there.

I actually made a test last night when I went to bed. I gave myself an order to wake up at 3am, no particular reason, just testing a theory. I woke up 3:15am, checked the time, then went back to sleep. I might try this tonight as well.

Not very too good. I'll tell you. Existential dread. Annihilation Anxiety is a ************.

If I had a choice, I'd probably never sleep.

I'd say fairly shittily except that I am used to it. A normal night is about4-5 hours with one wake up around 2 AM. Going to bed earlier is pointless as it just makes me have my full wake up earlier. I can function normally on as little as 3 hours but it's not pleasant.

Had a bad bout this week where I was getting only 1-2.5 hours on Monday and Tuesday. That was not fun, couldn't even get of work early like I usually can to grab a catnap either. An Acquaintance suggested melatonin so when I get a chance i'll grab a bottle of that and see if I can discover the joys of sleeping again, right now it's something I profoundly dislike.

Eh, I tend not to sleep very well. Aside from headaches, a rough family situation, depression, PTSD, and a bunch of other things.. even when I do fall asleep I'm not yet in the clear, due to reliving bad memories :c

Though when I do sleep well, it's usually in a tiny blanketfort with copious amounts of plushies and satin bedsheets ^w^

Laying down.

But on the topic of sleep, I've found since moving to Japan and changing over to using a futon (not the fold-out sofa kind we call "futon" in English) I've been sleeping much better. They're very soft and comfortable, with no damned springs to dig into your back. They're also made of cotton so they breathe during the summer, which makes sense for tropical countries. What idiot decided European-style bedding would be suitable for the tropical Australian climate, I'll never know.

Standing and with my eyes wide open. I typically get about 5 hours a night during the week, and 10 on weekends.

I'm not saying this is good.

I like a baby. I settle down, always on the right side, pillows in a V shape and my right arm under my head between the pillows. Works a charm. And as long as I time it so I wake up during non-REM sleep I can last all day on 3 hours if need be. I do try to get more though, usually 5 cycles, so 7.5 hours if I have time.

I can't sleep without music, lately I've been sleeping around 5-6 hours per day which is much better than the previous 3-4 hours per day or the previous 8 hours every 3 days, so I guess OK, it's good that I discovered that music helps me sleep, I guess I need to clear my head to sleep and I can't do it unless I lose myself in music.

Or?

By the way, not intentionally implying your species, just first images that came to mind. ;D
