Pessimism with a heavy dose of logic.
Same. I tried the whole grass is greener thing but once I realized how fucked the majority of things are, and how hard people have to work I kinda just switched to the above mentioned pessimism and logic. Works surprisingly well in a lot of situations.
*Discreet thumbs up.*
Screw discreet, just do what I do. Apply logic and pessimism but then add intense rage. You can laugh your ass off as you predict (the inevitable) end of the world.

Oh, jeez. Quit speaking my language.

I view everything as small and insignificant because in reality everyone is small and insignificant when you consider the vast size of the universe and how the human race hasn't existed very long compared to other life forms. This kind of allows you to not take everything so seriously :)

I'm an "expect the worst, hope for the best" kind of person. I hope the world will get better, but I really don't expect it to happen.

I see the worst of things, and then slap some rose colored glasses on that biatch.

I never take things too seriously, and always laugh at myself, among other things.

I'm a 'glass half full' kinda guy. I know lots of 'glass half empty' people, and even if you give them a full glass, there's still that underlying thought of "I bet somethings wrong with that water, or else why would you give it to me" going on.

Nothing wrong with being real or even cynical, but make sure you can still recognize good things without being suspicious.

Im trying to think of a reason why this website has attracted so many jaded pessimists like myself and like you all seem to be. It seems like a very prominent theme in this thread

I expect the worst, hope for nothing, look forward to nothing, and plan very little.
Plans fall apart, hopes will be dashed, looking forward to something just means something will go wrong with it.

Expect the worst and if it turns out good, you get a pleasant surprise.
If not, you're prepared.
QFT...and realism.

If you start out expecting the worst, aren't you starting out at or lower than where you'd be if you expected the best and it didn't work out that way?

And once something turns out good that you expected to be bad, do you then expect that to also go bad (in preparation for if/when it does)?

Not picking a fight, just curious.

I prefer to look at it through the bottom of a bottle.
Although thats more fun that way, I'm pretty optimistic.

Exactly.

While optimists say "It could always be worse", I say "It will be worse".

And when someone says "Glass is half full", I say "I have a smaller glass, and you have two glasses".

Hell, I'm so pessimistic that I'm smiling often. That's the perfect disguise for bile and frustration. But not emo, I loathe those people.
