Is that the reason you don't own a Wii? I like the Wii but can think of many reasons not to own one and that reason has never come up before.

OT: I wonder if it an oversight or if it was done on purpose to potentially rake in some extra money?

They get away with it because their main customer group (or majority of customer to clarify) is a bunch of soccer moms and grand parents. They have no idea how it works and the only way they would find out is the hard way. Wii breaks, Nintendo fixes it, sends it back, WIPED. I think it's messed up that they have no record of what you bought. If Nintendo was more focused to core gamers I think that it would have been a little more polished before they released it. On a side note, I have a Wii so I am not saying only soccer moms play Wii, just a majority.

Nintendo hasn't made a good game for over five years, I don't know why anyone would buy a Wii in the first place.

It is kind of like buying something off of an infomercial and then being disappointed about it.

There is an upside to this. I got a Used Wii for just over $200. I was looking through the Virtual Console games and realized that I had the option to just download Mario 1,2,3 and World, Zelda, Kirby, and...I think something else. Also, since I'm not likely to get rid of my Wii for a while, it doesn't really effect me terribly much.

Starfox 64 and Mario 64 are not the only ones worth it, don't ever leave out Ocarina Of Time. In my views, its the best game ever made.

"Starfox 64 and Mario 64 are the only ones worth it."

"Yeah, you're right, there's no sense buying any other games. Goldeneye, Banjo Kazooie, Ocarina of Time...all shit"

How the hell can one call Ocarina of Time shit? (Yes, i am a Zelda fan-boy so don't ask)

They sell these consoles called Retro Duo's now that you can put both Snes or NES cartridges in, essentially making it two systems in one.
And yet it still has nothing on the Super Genintari. :D

Lord knows what I would commit to get my hands on that thing...

Sorry for the double post.
My pride, it is scarred...
*whimper*

It's so beautiful. I wonder how much something like that would cost.

Um, I think the sarcasm of my sentence was lost in the internet, I was saying these games are all good. For someone to say that the only two games worth owning on the 64 were Mario and Starfox is a bit ridiculous.

Well I'd never actually considered that. But I don't consider it a problem. You know WHY I don't consider it a problem? Because unlike Sony and ESPECIALLY Microsoft, Nintendo don't make hardware that BRICKS itself on a regular basis!

OT: Yeah, virtual console sucks. In all honesty you can get an N64 for dirt cheap. Might as well buy one for $50 and buy some games off ebay or something.
Same goes for SNES/NES. They sell these consoles called Retro Duo's now that you can put both Snes or NES cartridges in, essentially making it two systems in one.
Since that post I was unaware that goldeneye (poorly rendered jerky controllered action), Banjo Kazooie (still bad), and Ocarina of Time (waste of time) were available from the Wii store. Just about the only title, by the way, that I wish they would put up there is Conker's Bad Fur Day. I'd download that in a New York minute, because there's something magical about a young red squirrel with a drinking problem getting conscripted in a war against Nazi teddy bears and becoming the unhappiest king in the land. The deathmatch mode was better than Goldeneye too.

The fact of the matter is that gamers are suckers and will hand over their money for very little in return and will do it repeatedly.

That's why Nintendo gets away with it, just like ms gets away with charging for online & melting machines and sony gets away with horrible support & even dropping features.
