I've been pushed to the brink by Mass Effect. Bioware recently said that they're not done with the series. The new one has to be lights out, or I'm done with it.
Im still baffled as to where they can take the series...if this is an "after" thing

this actually may not be so bad since the universe may be less fucked than it seems..

I was never all that invested in Uncharted...even though I've played all 3...

that point in uncharted 3 after that big event with the old cruise ship and the storm...I stopped and realised "hold on...THIS WAS ALL COMPLETLY POINTLESS"

Yeah, I'd have to agree - it was the biggest letdown (last year?). Invalidated all the development between Drake and Elena in the previous game (they married and then separated offscreen? What?), threw in a pointless and near non-existent antagonist (the British woman and her lackey) and was full of cheap plot twists and pointless stretches of time where nothing of consequence happened. I know they were trying to go for the whole Last Crusade vibe, but it just didn't work. At all.

It felt like the same train of thought that went into Mass Effect 3 - just a giant expansion pack to the previous installment. Now that I know what was cut out of ME3, and how badly the final product was botched, I doubt I'll be buying any Bioware products anymore. From what I've read over on the BSN, the staff have no intention of changing their policies, even in the face of staunch criticism.

Madden: RIP 2003-2009, After 2009's bull I had to finally give up. And there was a lot of bull after Madden 2005.

Call of Duty: Loved 1, 2, and 4... The 2nd Modern Warefare made me quit the franchise for good.

Tony Hawk: Stopped after the first Underground game...

Guitar Hero: Owned 2-3 and quit after Metallica.

God of War: The 3rd game was great but I began to realize I didn't care for hack n slash games.

Soul Calibur: Great fighting games, but I lost interest after the 3rd installment. I'll occasionally play it at a friend's house though.

Marvel vs. Capcom: I only played 3 and it was bare-bones DLC induced garbage.

Banjo Kazooie: Saw the last game to come out for the 360 and I officially gave up on Rare.

Resident Evil: Unless 6 redeems itself, I probably won't be coming back.

Grand Theft Auto: 4 by all means was a good game but it didn't have the same impact as the previous installments did, but my opinion may change depending on how 5 is.

Halo: Loved Reach but ODST was not appealing and 3 was complete garbage. I don't know if Halo 4 will turn itself around but the Anniversary of the original game looks good.

Pokemon: Has been out forever but it hasn't truly evolved, I grew out of those games.

Mass Effect: I'm not sure I can easily go back after the endings. Mass Effect 3 is a love/hate game. I loved everything up until the ending.

Quake: Quake 4 or 5, I can't remember. It was lame.

For me Red Alert 3 was kind of the end for the C&C franchise with me and C&C 4 totally killed it when they announced the completely stupid system they were putting in place that involved a leveling up prestige system like Call of Duty to unlock good units and that there was no base building I was done. I didn't even buy it because it wasn't a C&C game anymore.

I'm even less excited about this new free to play Generals 2 pile of garbage they announced a while back, way to take one of your best franchises and just grind it into the ground EA.
Red Alert 3 was a huge letdown for me too. I seriously loved Red Alert and C&C up to that point, Red Alert 2 happen to be one of my favourite games of all time. Red Alert 3 just somehow wasn't what I wanted and it turned me off the entire series.

I generally don't let it bother me anymore, I've long got used to the idea that sequels usually don't live up to expectations.

Two shit games in a row (Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Ratchet & Clank, Final Fantasy, etc.) will make me very wary about future installments, but I never really quit on a franchise I like. I will wait for reviews, a demo and/or post-release videos to see if the new game is actually good, and try it out if it looks okay. After all, the glorious Resident Evil 4 was released after Code:Veronica, Dead Aim and Outbreak, which were shittastic. Why couldn't a new RE game be good? Not RE6, obviously, but maybe someday... when they reboot the whole thing with a plot written by an entity with an actual brain.

What really killed it for me was the forced co-op in single player, if you didn't have anyone to play with online you were forced to have a shitty AI partner who would do nothing more than get in the way and fuck up your plans. I never got more than about four missions into the Soviet campaign before quitting and I tried to love it several times.

The only good thing about the game was the multiplayer and even that wasn't as good a Red Alert 2 was.

I will never punt an entire developer. That's just ridiculous.

I admit there are some series that I will just not abandon no matter what, or at least not unless the games turn so, so horrible that it's beyond imagination. For example, I'm pretty sure Metal Gear can never do me enough wrong to have me not buy the next game. Mass Effect was like that also and *still is* even after the third game. I'm pretty sure Atlus is a divine presence on Earth and can do no wrong. I'd even cry my way to the store to buy Homeworld 3 if it happened, despite what those folks at Relic did to mangle their franchise.

What can I say, I tend to become a Serious Fan. :p

The multiplayer in Red Alert 2 was awesome. I remember me and three friends of mine used to play over LAN and team up two versus two. It was awesome. Red Alert 3's multiplayer was clearly a step down. I'd say what happened with Red Alert 3 was a tragedy, I really wanted to like that game.

It's DLC, Pre-Order bonus, Promotional content and stuff like that, that push me enough to not want a product.

I loved Mass Effect and Dragon Age: Origins, but when I saw what was happening to Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age 2, I bowed out early. A choice I don't regret.

When they just start taking the fans for granted; Kingdom Hearts, Assassins Creed (almost), and all the Mario platformers after Galaxy 1, are the main offenders.
