Less friends than I could have.
Low self esteem
Horrible chances with finding someone to love.
Never going for opertunaties that would benefit me.

The list goes on.
Opportunities like learning how to spell the word opportunities?

Hey, maybe your atrocious spelling is why no one loves you...

Anyway, no, being shy hasn't ruined my life in any capacity.
You know, I've always known my spelling was bad. No need to point it out.
it's not that bad, just get Firefox, it has auto spell check which a lot more people would use than you think.

On the contrary, it's very important to point it out, how are you going to get better if no one helps you?

aww, always nice to know there's a dick on the forum.

Lay off, or fuck off.

As for me... I'm too shy to say :)

nah, seriously, yes, but I try to talk, and sometimes that gets me somewhere.
My my, aren't we feeling rude today? I was trying to help this person with their spelling and the problems that I assume have arisen from it, and you attack me for it? Not what I'd call mature.

I'm pretty shy, but only really when I'm around new people.
Though once I warm up to them, then I come out of my shell and I'm fine.
The only time shyness has hindered my life is that when I meet new people, or a lot of new people in a group I tend to be quiet, and barely talk which distances myself from others, although I do want to get to know them.

Asking out a girl is something I'm usually shy about too, like a recent example would be that I like this girl, and have chatted to her briefly here and there, but when I wanted to ask her out I just stumbled and didn't. This happened a couple of times before eventually last night I just went for it and asked her.

I always manage to in the end, it just takes me a while

Well I can't think of any specific examples, but I'm sure I've missed out on more than a few opportunities with women that way.

mine automatically underlines misspelled words in red, I then just right click the word with my cursor in it and it gives me the correct spelling options.

My life has managed to not be ruined so far, despite my shyness. As some in this thread have already said, forcing myself to say yes even if my shyness would rather have me back out has probably kept my life from getting totally derailed. My shyness does still make life difficult, especially at work, because when I start getting shy and/or under pressure I start to stutter, and it makes meetings and design reviews torturous events. ::shudders::

Oh, it is important, but to go about it like that is a bit out of order. You could have simply told me instead of actually saying that I won't find someone because of it.

On the subject.

Never.

I had some embarassing memories of what would have happened if I wasn't so inhibited, though...things I was considering, and close to doing, before changing my mind. Fuck.

There was one girl I used to talk to all the time in my German class in highschool. I was attracted to her and I'm pretty sure she might have liked me but I was too shy to ask her out. Sometimes I find myself thinking about her and wondering if we could've had something special.

Fine. Sorry, but you did sound a bit nasty your self. You could of just said "your spellings wrong" and dealt with it without making it sound like YOU were attacking him.

Okay, well there's thisguyandIreallywannafuckhimbut I'm a virgin and he's not and I'm afraid I'll be bad and get judged and compared to other (probably far more attractive) girls. Not to say that being shy is necessarily ruining my life. Hell, it might well be preventing me from doing something I'll regret.

Used to be really shy throughout Secondary school. Then boom, college came out of my shell and I've been fairly good at meeting new people since.

Worst shy moment: Naked girl lying ontop of me, saying she'll do whatever I wanted. I bailed. Regretted it since. That was 6-7 years ago now.

I was shy before then one year I figure screw it I'm going to say anything on mind for on. Cut to year after and nearly lost all of my friends or got my ass kicked for almost anything I said. Now I just keep my mouth shut... Mostly.

Maybe being a grammar Nazi is why no-one loves you. Beating someone around the head with the 'spellcheck stick' is pretty pathetic.

OT: Not really. I'm not really shy; just apathetic.
"Spellcheck stick"? A spellcheck is a crutch and you should be able to make coherent posts without one. Where did I even say no one loves me? You need to check your facts before making silly assumptions.
