Just wanted to ask how has gaming affected your lives.

Gaming has affected my life both good and I guess bad. Good: Hand eye coordination is excellent. Bad: Became very introverted, can't stand people, value my game consoles and games more than most some friends and family, Would save some friends and family though.

The aformentioned hand-eye coordination, and gaming has really made me appreciate VideoGames as an art-form, and not just another form of entertainment. Nothing really negative has come from it.

No offense, but I think "bad" is an understatement for that. You may want to reevaluate some things.

As for me, gaming has introduced me to a lot of the people I'm friends with today, along with making up about 8/10ths of my music library. Negatively, it's kind of made me the awkward outcast in regular society (though isn't that always the case).

Helped me with a lot of things. Quick adaption, heightened visual reflexes, and generally the ability to think outside the box.

Of course it has also given me the unfortunate side-effect of being lazy.

Good: I have found the career that I want to persue bacause of gaming.
It's my escape from everything in life, and how I express my emotions.

Bad: My social status, communication and sleeping pattern is terrible.
My health.

Also I agree with 'gof22', I have had the same affects from gaming as you, I can't stand people either.

Good: Works as a way to meet friends, mostly online but sometimes offline as well.
Helped the hand-eye coordination.
It's a great way to just 'get away' from everything else for a while.

Bad: I sleep from 5 AM to Noon and when I'm awake, I'm usually online.
I have no girlfriend. (of course, living in a small town doesn't help either)
My health. I'm working on getting in better shape, but my health used to be very bad.

Being the outcast is fun. People try to understand you and yet they never can.

I get along with people but I usually hate them.

It hasn't affected my life.
At all.

And if you value your game system more than friends/family, seriously, you may want to reevaluate thing.

Video games helped me because they made me realize my dream of being a A.I. Programmer.

I have an extremely addictive personality.

Since I've started gaming in earnest I have gone from drinking till drunk 3 nights a week to going on the piss maybe once or twice every fortnight.

A lot of people still consider 4 or 5 hours gaming a night unhealthy, when they themselves will happily sit in front of the TV soaking up reality TV and soap operas for the same amount of time, or spend obscene amounts of cash getting tanked up down the boozer.

At least with gaming you use your brain and give it a good old work out, depending on the kind of game you're playing.

Given the choice between building up your reflexes playing online with friends or staring at My Sweet Sixteen... I think I know which is the more constructive activity.

If anything, video games have had a positive effect on my and who I am. I wasn't able to go to school for a fear of being around people (meh), and my mom had and dad had broken up, so I was alone with games at my dad's house, which sadly taught me lots of things (lots of words and such). It's pretty pathetic, but that's how my life was.
They have also helped me keep an open mind about everything and look at every detail of even the slightest thing (someone of a perfectionist). I have an addiction now, sort of, but my games list is like my music list, it's short and only has games that I love--that's probably too strong of a word, but meh.
