Compare your computer now to when you first got it. It could be hardware an OS or just a whole lot of software.

At what point do you decide that it's not the same computer anymore? Because the only constant over the last few years has been the power supply, and maybe one of the hdd's. Incrimental upgrading means never having to splash on a whole new computer.

In terms of OS, I've always had windows XP on this thing....

I've gotten AVG as my security system instead of Norton...GOD I hate Norton.

And I have worn the paint away from my left mouse button and the keys are now smooth from typing so much...

So yeah, not much.

I have yet to do anything to my laptop, because I can't do much, if anything to it.

It's gone from being a reliable workhorse to a super powered behemoth, to a computer that crashes and dies periodically and doesn't even load IE or WMP. But it's been through a lot of crap over these past five years, so I can't fault it.
Still looking forward to a new computer though.

Haha the only thing left from my original 2003 desktop is the HDD, 160 gb. It wa utter crap back then, has gone through 2 giant changes since and is just overpowered now.

2008 toshiba

New OS, vista to 7 (I love you msdn aa)
New Anti-virus
New Aplications
New browser
Overclocked the hell out of the 3470

And thats about it. I can't really change anything else other than the software.

Oh, broken corner plastic, and a couple of plastic bits chipped off. Not bad for a laptop thats on 24/7 for weeks.

It used to suck.
Now it doesn't.

Specifically I finally upgraded to a multi-core processor (Phenom X2 3.1 Ghz) just a year ago! That's the most remarkable one.

Also, a 16:9 23" LCD monitor instead of a crappy CRT Monitor!

This computer started life as follows

Pentium 4 630 at 3.0Ghz
Asus P5ND2 Sli board
2Gig of entry level Crucial RAM
MSI 6800GS
Cheapo 600W PSU
Cheapo case
Windows XP SP3
500Meg cheapest HD

The upgrade process went something along the lines of

New PSU - Hiper 580W
Window Kit for case
New GPU 8800GTX
New Case Thermaltake Tsunami
New HD larger capacity Western Digital
New Sound card Creative Gamer
Another new PSU when the Hiper started making funny noises Corsair 520W (still being used)
New Mobo Asus P5D
New CPU Core 2 Duo E6600
New HD when the WD failed after just 8 months Samsung F1 1Tb
New GPU 260GTX (Still in use)
New Soundcard when port on old one failed, Asus Xonar D2 (Still in use)
New mobo when old one failed after 1 year Asus P5D Backpearl premium

and then the biggest sort around last year which left me more or less with the computer I have now

New OS Windows 7
New Mobo Asus Formula 3
New CPU Core I5 750
New Ram Patriot Viper
New Case Silverstone something or rather
Sound card, PSU, GPU and HD stayed the same

Early this year

New Hard drive Samsung F3 needed when my F1 failed and Aria decided to take four millenia getting it fixed.

Mid way this year

New HD Samsung F3 to create a Raid 0 array with the existing drive

So essentially none of the components from my first self build are the same but it has progressed from where it was to where it is now.

If it's first computer vs current then that would be a Spectrum +2a vs a core 15 gaming rig.

began with
PC486 on 66 MHz
4 MB RAM
1GB hdd
SVGA integrated graphics on honestly don't remember how much

now it's
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+
2GB RAM
160GB hdd
ATI R7V10 on 1024MB RAM (even though I think it's only 512 of it physical or something, it's a used graphics card that i didn't really bother checking out anyway)

so yeah, i run a pretty old rig myself but i've come a long way

That happened to my laptop once but I managed to revive my laptop when it was at the brink of death.
