Involvement? None whatsoever.

Although he did like the concept of the old Maxis games like SimEarth (he's a scientist so the life simulation interested him). He also admires the detail in Paradox's Grand Strategy games - but is interested in just looking at who ruled where and when, rather than actually playing it. He'd just open up a game of Crusader Kings II and leave it paused, and just spend his time investigating the connections of the various families rather than have a hand in them.

Capcha: live. love. internet.

WTF?

My dad played with me when I was very young, up until I was maybe 8 years old. He purchased my brother and I an original nintendo, super nintendo, and on our tenth birthday a gamecube. After that he has been very distant from it, and I don't have a problem with that.

Funny thing, I was looking after a family-friend's son, and playing games with him. The father said later that he of course picked the child up old systems and games because he didn't know any better. My dad laughed and said that he had done the same exact thing.

Best part? I have to say that owning an original nintendo and super nintendo was possibly one of the larger cultural impacts of my life. Some of these games were brutally hard, and it taught me everything from patience, appreciating old things and there was just a style to it all that really sunk into me. Even among my other gamer friends, my brother and I are of the very select few who love old games. I still own and play my original nintendo and have almost all of my games 15 years later.

Something so small for him meant so much us. I find it very, very humorous.

What dad?
The feels. They are upon me. :'(
Same here, never met the guy. In fact, only one of my friends lived with a father. My mother, grandmother, & uncle got into video games after I did. Gaming became my grandmother's life.

Very involved, he was a PC gamer himself back in his day and actually was the one who introduced me to video games as a kid. Used to play Diablo 2 with him when I was younger. I re-payed the favor later by introducing him to Fallout 3 a few years ago which he's sunk more hours into then I have (and I got over 200 on my steam page).

Today we mostly play Minecraft and TF2 together when we can spare the time, hes still the best pocket medic I know.
