Skyward Sword is, simply put, an amazing game. It's taken elements from most if not all the Zelda games to come before it and throw it in one big melting pot of awesome. The motion controls work really well, although take a bit of time to get used to, the inventory system is set up nicely, the collectibles actually make you want to collect them rather than just "being there", and Skyloft feels the most alive I've seen in a Zelda game since Termina in Majora's Mask. There's also a reason many reviewers are saying it's the new Ocarina of Time: it really revolutionizes the series and is a game that you'll be able to come back to for years to come. If you've played and liked any Zelda game previously, you'll love Skyward Sword.

In short: GET IT

Honestly, its one of the best Zelda titles to date. I'm loving it so far. Its villain is actually villainous and not just over the top. It makes me care about Zelda, the combat is difficult in all the right ways and flowing when you get used to it. The visuals are stunning, and the music is grand. Yeah, you should probably buy it.

Absolutely love it! Kotaku did a good review on it that sums up my feelings and The Escapist did one too, check those out, but Im sure you will love it! Makes all the right changes yet keeps the things you love; my only dislike is the WW style over-world is significantly smaller and less interesting. Amazing Art style, gameplay is varied and interesting. Dungeons are fun to do rather than frustrating! Overall awesome!

Is it just me or does Skyward Sword sound like a double entendre to everyone else too?

I'm sure the game is great, and in the other definition, my erect penis is doing pretty well too. Even if its a bit too hard for some people.

I remember saying a month or so ago that the graphics looked terrible and posting a couple of really bad pictures. Other people then posted some better looking pictures so I decided that maybe I just had a few bad pictures. On my 40" Sony Bravia, it looks like ass. I am using the component cables.

You remember how bad the PS1 looked up close, all the jaggies? Yeah, that's what it looks like.

As for gameplay, I hate the controls. They make a simple task so much harder. I have died once at the mouth of one of the deku plants. I hit it 20 or 30 times using every attack I could but it didn't seem to hurt it. I tried to hit it with a thrust in the mouth while it's mouth was open but all it did was bounce around. Horizontal and vertical slashes didn't work, the spin attack didn't work and sending an energy beam didn't work. Trying to cut a patch of grass requires far more effort than it should. Remember that attack where Link jumps and attacks an enemy? No trace of it yet, there is a finishing move that is similar but that's not the same move. To roll into a tree is more painful than it was on The Phantom Hourglass. You have to hold A to dash while steering with the nunchuck and then when you're ready to roll, shake the nunchuck. The shaking the nunchuck part (which is where you are steering from) is what throws you off course. It makes rolling something you don't want to do very often. Remember in Twilight Princess how you could mow the grass (run and slash at the same time), that's gone.

The opening was atleast an hour of dialog and some of it just damn immature. Finally we get to the bird race and the controls kinda sucked there too.

I loved the controls in Twilight Princess on the Wii. It's because there was only ONE motion control, waggle and that just acted like pressing A on the Gamecube version. None of this "push forward, left to right, up and down, right to left, shake nunchuck, both nunchuck and Wiimote slash horizontally.

I truly wish this game had a classic controller option.

Here's the skinny:

Stop reading this and go out and buy the game right this instant. The game is beatiful, it's magnificent, it will refill you with Nintendo fanboyism, it cures cancer AND erectile dysfunction. I love it so much that we're going on a date tonight at that new speghetti place that opened up on the corner of main street.

10/10 game duration/longevity (IDK how you say this in English, I mean the time you can play the game until you bore yourself with it, the higher the better)
8/10 to story (Perfect for a Zelda game, but no masterpiece, still, I think no one was expecting that)
SSoundtrack a 9/10 or 10/10 Hard to decide

Overall 10/10
Alright, now I wanna know. This is something I can't seem to get a straight answer to, and it genuinely makes or breaks the game for me.

Boss fights. They suck as much as Twilight Princess?

I admit I haven't spent much time with the game but so far it hasn't really left a big impression on me. I hate to say that being such a big Zelda fan, but so far I can't really call it amazing. The graphics are really good and the sword fighting is pretty cool and works well, but the rest of the game hasn't been that interesting. Maybe it's because I'm still not very far in to the game. I've got up to the first dungeon but not actually gone in yet. Recent Zelda games do seem to be going through a trend of having slow starts so hopefully it will pick up soon. I find the Kikwi to be quite annoying too.

They are fun but still really easy to beat.

To everyone else, ignore Crono1973. Critics is fine, but he is just hating and without reason. You can still jump and attack, there's no part where you have to cut grass and if you want it doesn't take long. The controls works great, if you don't like it, your problem, but don't say they don't work, because they do. That deku thing is just retarded too.
Yes it's true you can't run and cut, and yes the 1st hour has much dialogue but all the Zeldas had it. (maybe this one has slightly more)
Excuse me? Ignore me? My opinion doesn't matter because it is different than yours? You're a tolerant one aren't you?

If you can still jump and attack, tell me how and I will concede that I was wrong about that. Not the finishing move either.

The controls are a pain but I didn't say they don't work. No, you don't HAVE to cut the grass but it's just part of playing Zelda and has been since the first game. That the controls make it harder than it needs to be is a problem because the controls make everything harder than they need to be.

I was looking forward to the 1:1 motion controls because I enjoyed it in Wii Sports Resort but they just aren't that great in this game.

Use Z to target the enemy , press A while moving towards it and slash (moving the controller from up to down (vertical slash)) -> jump attack (already used it a lot on the monsters)

Ok, I was wrong then but WOW does that sound complicated! Did I miss a tutorial section where they explain that?

Here is what I think of it so far (I gotten past the first temple)-
This game is not another clone to Twilight Princess and Wind Waker so suck it Gamespot! In fact this is the most realistic LoZ so far because they added a stamina meter when Link run and there is durability to the shield so it's no longer invisible like the sword.

The control are abit getting used to (completely different to the past games) like e.g. in TP you equip the slingshot and hold B and release it to fire while in SS you equip and hit A to fire.

The equipment is now limited you can't carry every single weapon/ storage you got but there is a storage place to put these item (again realistic). If you're and found something new it will automatically send to the storage.

Lastly the exploration is mainly in the sky as the land is split into segment (from what I had encountered so far). This could be a like/ dislike but it's still better compare to the sea travel in Wind Waker

The game makes full advantage of the Wii motion plus so using the sword is more real.

The character Fi (the sword girl) isn't as likeable compare to Midna because of her computer like personality but I still think her design look pretty cool. She remind of Bleach as the spirit to the sword (like how Ichigo Zanpato spirit is Zangetsu).

Overall I am enjoying the game so far.

I don't play the Wii a lot but I'm finding the controls fine. I'm a bit rubbish with combat systems where you have to actually put some thought into it instead of button bashing, but I'm finding it far less frustrating than I thought I would.

The trick is to cut it vertically if its mouth opens vertically and horizontally if it opens horizontally. If that's not working, chances are you're actually making diagonal strikes (I've made this mistake a few times but my form's a lot better now).

At least she isn't as annoying a Navi. Personally I like Fi's design and the "voice" they used for her.

Ok, I'll try that. It's not that I won't try to finish this game. The only Zelda game I never finished was Spirit Tracks. Maybe the controls will grow on me but I am old enough to know what I like and what I don't like so we'll see.

The voice reminds me of GLaDOS.
