G'day from sunny London and Happy 4th of July to our American cousins. Who actually uses this day to celebrate our rough and painful break up. You know you don't have to celebrate our divorce like that. We still think about you at night and during war times. Remember Iraq and how we were great together? Aaah the memories. :)

*clears throat* Funny thing about phones. We can never seem to put them down even when the call has ended. I remember growing up, mobile phone weren't even needed unless you were an adult and have a business but now things have changed. As we all have smart phones today, more and more of us find it hard to do without them and often forget the times where we really didn't need them. Times have changed as I have said. However, the main question is, how long can you go without looking at your phone? 5 mins? Half an hour? An hour? A whole day or even a week.

Think deeply about this cause many may start to release how often we look at our phones. Fear of missing out or just a load of nonsense. Let's find out.

EDIT: This also includes tablets too cause that is also a portable mobile device. I was going to put it in the main post but I wanted to be kind.

Varies very lot, but I throw an average two hours - to check the time. Other than that, every few days for "oh, battery's running low" and plug it in and coordinating visits back home with my sister.

I use mine to check the time semi-regularly. But if I'd know in advance I'd be phone-less I'd bring a watch and be fine. All the smart phone function are just a bonus for when there's wifi available and I'm bored.

EDIT: my last vacation was three weeks and I used my phone only for taking pictures.

A few hours since I'm not the type who used the phone alot nor do I get any expected calls from it at all (like if a mate ring me up).

The only time when I do want to used it is to check any new text message on it since sometime I leave it at silent (forgot to turn the sound back on after work).

If i got on vacation i'll leave it home. That's about it. I feel naked without my phone. I rather go without pants than go without my cellphone. And i'd still feel less "naked".

Um... forever?

Something of a luddite when it comes to mobiles. I personally wouldn't particularly mind ditching it for a landline. As it is I often intentionally leave my phone at home when going out. For some silly reason I get irritated at being called when I'm out and about.

I wear a watch, so I don't need it as a timepiece.

Oh, and I don't much care for texting. I mean, I think it has its uses, but I still find it fiddly and annoying.

I only check my phone a few times a day, usually to make sure the battery level is okay or that I haven't missed a call or text (as I am generally on call for work) or checking the time, otherwise I generally don't touch my phone, I've gone days without touching my phone. If I didn't need it for work and emergency contact I probably wouldn't bother with having one.

Very often, since I also use my phone as a timekeeper when I'm not near a computer or an easily visible clock, and it's my connection to the Internet when I'm out. I feel limited without it.

I don't have a mobile/cell phone.
I remember growing up when nobody had one, just rich business men with those massive bricks. God I miss those days....
Not that I'm saying they aren't useful or interesting and I intend to buy one next year, but it just seems everyone is glued to their phone. If I ever go out anywhere the people around me are all distracted, texting people or updating their social media instead of actually socialising.

I do have an ipod though that I can't live without ha ha.

My phone?

A while, the only person I regularly contact with my phone is my mom.

I use my tablet to get in touch with everyone else, either by Facebook or IM. I probably couldn't survive for very long without my tablet, at least not happily. It's how I make plans with people, check emails, do stuff for college, for work, arse around on the Internet, chat to my friends and boyfriend...

I'd be so boned if I lost/broke it.
My phone is a piece of shit. XD

Mobile Phones in general. As in, no texting, no calling, no looking to see if you have a message, no social networking, not even looking at the clock on your phone. How long could you last.

I don't. This is my phone:

I use my phone mainly as a watch and an alarm clock. I also text people and even make calls from time to time (both mostly work related so it's not like I can just not have a phone).

I use my phone very rarely. In fact, I use it to phone people.

That's about it. That means, like, a few times a week. And I leave it at home otherwise.

Forever, probably. I don't even get annoyed for a week without it unless I have plans with a friend coming up and we chat by text.

I don't have a smartphone or any kind of social network profile so my phone is used strictly for texts/calls and obsessively checking the time.
I also only have a few people I communicate with and I own a watch. I can go quite a while without a cell phone.

I know, I'm so backwards :D

I don't actively use my phone very often at all. I mostly carry it around in case of emergencies. In fact I have to actively make a call every few months just so I don't get my SIM cut off. I do check my emails on it occasionally and I could use it as an MP3 player if I felt like it, but there's nothing there I couldn't live without or get from another source.

Depends, if I'm with my girlfriend on holidays then I can pretty much leave it alone for however long the holiday is. If I'm not with her, then maybe a day tops since it's a long distance thing it's rather hard to do without a phone. Most I've left it alone for was I think a week and a half. Had a shit pile of messages and calls to respond to but oh well :p

I use mine to keep contact with the family if I'm out. Otherwise, it sits on my desk/in my pocket in case I need it.

I am not allowed to take my phone into the laboratory where I work, so it stays in my locker and then I will probably check it at lunch time just to see if anyone has called, I start work at 8 in the morning and I don't have lunch until oneish, so I can last quite a while without a phone. It sometimes gets to a point where my friends will get annoyed because they can't reach me.
