How Long Did It Take You To Pick an Avatar?

Yep. Another thread. From me. About avatars. The irony is absolutely killing me right now. Hahaha.

Anyway, on to business. I thought about this subject when I noticed a few other users with relatively high post counts without avatars. ravensheart18 and manythings are two users that come to mind. But I have also seen, in the past, some users go from having no avatar, to having one. People whose names I recognized during the day, suddenly got their avatar.

What I'm asking is, how long did it take you to pick your avatar? How much time in days, or how many posts had you made before you got your avatar?

I'd say I went about a good 200 posts before having my first avatar, but that's really just because I didn't frequent this forum until months after I made this account.

I think I put one up within a day or so of joining. I have a problem with keeping the same avatar, I change it all the time. I think creepy Alice is going to stay for a while, she amuses me.

Right when I started posting I had one, then i just change it to what ever I;m addicted too.

I don't pick an avatar for a specific forum. Rather, i tend to use the same one for every comm i'm on. I'm online since 1995, so i of course had one when i joined already. I tend to switch avatars in long intervals - every few years i tend to pick a new one.

How long do i take to decide on a new one? Thats a bit hard to estimate. I may for months now and then have small ideas, and then think about them for a few minutes. When i finally decide on what to do, and get down to design it (i almost never just copy existing images. I tend to do most/all of the paintjob myself), it may take anywhere from 4 to 20 hours until i'm satisfied with it.

it took my 2 seconds to pick one. A little longer to find a properly sized/shaded one.

And it has not changed, nor will it ever.

Less than a minute, easily. I was already a member of another forum so I just used that avatar to start off. Then I started making my own. Now I always have an avatar.

My first one was one I picked before I registered. Took me a bit to make though, as I had to convert a video for it, which, at the time, I didn't know how to do.

My current one took me a while to figure out that I wanted it as my avatar. My Pikachu one is one that I kept for a long time, and people were confused when I switched.

I've already got a couple more lined up for when I get tired of this one. But with her smile...I dunno if that'll happen any time soon. XD

I either go by what I'm obsessed with at that moment, or just a picture/gif that I think is awesome.
