Yes. I was in a mixed Aus/US guild in WoW and we had many a spirited debate about proper cookies/biscuit terminology.
man but does it grind my gears to hear someone say "Anzac Cookie"

its a biscuit.
Nah, <spoiler=these are biscuits>http://www.eatfoo.com/files/images/20080315_-_buttermilk_biscuits/IMG_1805.jpg

Note that despite the similar appearance, American biscuits, which are basically a kind of fluffy, crumbly bread, are not the same thing as scones, which have a similar shape and texture, but are sweet and pastry-like.

OT: I can honestly say that I've never heard of Tim Tams, which is interesting, because they're made by Pepperidge Farms. The person who said it was an American company wasn't kidding.
Scones aren't all sweet, you can make savoury scones aswell.
Savory isn't the right word, either; it's just crumbly bread. Kind of bland, really, unless you add some butter or honey to it.

Edit: <link=http://www.kitchensavvy.com/journal/2005/08/scones_vs_biscu.html>This page gives a pretty good explanation. Scones are similar to biscuits, but richer and served as a different type of food item.

Tim Tams are okay, however, the real Australian snack are these right here...

I don't know how the rest of the world lives without them.

Looks a lot like wheat thins to me -- especially the Harvest Crisps flavor, which even has a similar shape:

. Although I have to hand it to you, we don't have pizza flavored wheat thins in the US. Thinking about it, that would probably taste amazing. Unfortunately, that kind of cracker usually isn't heavily flavored around here; you're supposed to top them, usually with cheese, but some people get fancy with things like fruit as well. The few flavors we have are designed to complement cheese, with the exception of cheezits, which come with the cheese flavoring already baked in.

As an Australian, I can definitely say that I've heard of them. I can also definitely say that they are heaven in earthly form.

You're not really supossed to dip or add toppings to shapes, they're already full of flavour (except for Cheddar, which I don't personally like), and there is a pretty good variety of flavours, my personal favourite being "nacho cheese" flavour.

Great to snack on while playing video games :D

Hmmm, Tim Tams are delicious, wish I had some right now but I think I ate the last of them a couple days back and a new packet hasn't been bought yet.

I have no knowledge of your regional foodstuff, but I have heard of John Tams. Does that count?

Over here in Australia we have an amazing biscuit called Tim Tams. Any of you (non-Australian) guys ever heard of it?
Why yes I have, I had some a few months ago here in the US. I got them in the store, and this is a picture of the type I had.

I also had a caramel filled kind as well.

Even Americans would never call a Tim Tam a "cookie". Cookies are round!
Not really, I don't know about you, but in my area, any sweet that has the texture of a cookie is called a cookie.

Heck the only maker of Tim Tams in the US that I have seen, even calls them a cookie.

I have the packaging right here that says it. "Australia's Favorite Cookie!"

You should call them up and tell them they are wrong. =P

I have had Tim Tams in their endless varieties. Downed a packed of the Black Forest ones followed by a packet of the Double Chocolate ones not too long ago. That'll be my Tim Tam intake for the rest of the year though. A friend of mine won a competition to win a year's supply of them.

NZer by the way, we get Arnott's everything.

Mmm, so good. Especially the white ones.
same packaging here in kiwiland except is doesn't have "this is Australia" printed on it. and we dont get the white ones easily here.

OT: and it tastes damn good. might go have some now.
As above, but the Black Forest ones are the best by a mile :D
