There should be different endings depending on Shep's background or class or something, or rather something to do with the events of the first game. That would mean that people (like me) who have played right from the beginning have a greater understanding than those who have dived in halfway through after seeing the near flawless reviews of Mass Effect 2; or the people who are joining the series for the first time in Mass Effect 3, who Bioware are paying close attention to appealing towards (even though you'd think they'd pay more attention to the fans who have played all the games).

It'd be great to have a sort of infinite ending, so that after you've defeated the reapers, you find a quiet town on an asteroid in a desirable cosmic neighbourhood. Then the game just becomes a version of The Sims set in the Mass Effect universe: find a quarian for your bride, have a couple of kids, maybe farm a couple of acres.

I'm quite thankful Bioware are developing this and not me.

It's the Keepers tat reveal themself to be some ancient godlike race and will tell the reaper they've been bad boys and send the back. Btw this keepers are indeed strange i think I've seen one in the shadow broker's spy cam that killed a krogan...weird.

As for that red star in geth teritory it might have something to do with that geth project to build a Dyson Sphere which might mean a huge geth transformer which might be able to kick some reaper ass.

P.S. Why does everybody love so much the quarians they're like the mexicans of the space "they're stealing our jewbs"

With respect, i think there's only one logical way to end it - Multiple Endings depending on the decisions you've made in ME1 and ME2 (if applicable), as well as some of the decisions you make in ME3.

So in perspective, doing some things results in Shepard screwing over the Universe and having everyone assimilated/wiped out by the Reapers. The very best ending however would be the opposite of this - but much like the Suicide Mission in ME2, it's a case of Earn Your Happy/Unhappy Ending.

The Commander Shepard song begins to play, and Shepard, accompanied by Krogans and Leopards, charges into the Reaper base, bullets bouncing off him.

Here's how it will end:

*after final battle

Shepard: "You shall never prevail. Human spirit is too strong, it shall not be broken. Yadda yadda yadda typical hero stuff"

Harbinger: "Fuck this. Our true motivation was to transport all humans to a paradise land of world peace and eternal life and infinite blowjobs from Miranda. But you have ruined everything with your lack of submission. We shall leave now never to return. Enjoy the continuation of your crappy little existence as you know it."

Shepard: "Fuck"
Thank you sir, I lol'd.

They said ME3 was the end of Shepard's adventures but not the end of Mass Effect as a franchise.

Cause Tali is like a nerds wet dream. I don't understand how they are stealing peoples jobs. They pretty much all live on the migrant fleet and have been all but ostracized by the galactic community.
OT: It will probably end happily. At least I'd want that. I don't want my Indigo Shepard or Plebian Shepard (Whose name is kind of ironic since he is a spacer) to die. I want Indigo to have many blue children, and Plebian to live the rest of his life with Tali.

50/50 on whether Shepard makes it: I hope so, but can see how there might be room for a "noble sacrifice" option. Leave the dead protagonist trope to Rockstar, they do it better.

My theory:
The Protheans were a single dominant species but were eventually wiped out over the course of a few centuries: in response to the Reapers arrival, they bred diversity through different corners of the galaxy as a means of combating the Reapers next time the extinction cycle came due. There are stories in ME1 about Protheans fostering humanity during it's early development, so perhaps they also fostered the other primary species to produce the necessary traits to take the Reapers down- tech, biotics, muscle, etc.

The series has been about cross-species teams combining to overcome adversity: it would at least be thematically consistent if ME3 was about uniting the various races under the one banner to defeat/drive away the Reapers. Very LOTR, but then Mass Effect is a sci-fi action series with heart and a lovingly detailed universe, so I'll take a big dumb happy ending if need be.

And one other thing Bioware: whatever you do PUT TIME INTO THE ENDING. If it is a case of "Harbinger is the last Reaper to fall: Congratulations, you've beaten Mass Effect! [roll credits]" I will hunt down each project member and drop a sneaky dump in every potted plant they own.

Commander Shepard dies in the first 5 minutes, and ME3 becomes about Conrad Werner saving the day.

I would laugh so hard if that happens.

Since Mass Effect 3 is the very end I foresee a whole bunch of different possible outcomes that might appear as divergent storylines:
- You defeat all of the Reapers somehow.
- You fail to defeat the Reapers, but you manage to warn the next wave of organic life much like the Protheans.
- You fail to defeat the Reapers and they emerge victorious.
- The Reapers win, but their losses are so many that they can't sustain their numbers and are also wiped out.

I think it will depend on the choices you made not only in the first two but in ME3 as well. Personally, I see it basically ending one of two ways:

1. Shep unites all of the races in the galaxy and destroys the Reapers or 2. Shep fails to unite all of the races in the galaxy, everyone dies and the Reapers win.

Shepard makes an awesome speech then sacrifices herself* to destroy the Reaper threat once and for all. Cue massive pyrotechnics followed by a closing scene of the Love Interest looking sad but proud.

There wouldn't be a dry eye in the house.
There would, I find the ending cliche nd predictable. Im not the only one either.
Well, you do have a big eye for an avatar, so figures... I guess.

The more I think about the more it makes sense to me that they should kill Shepard. If they do then they give themselves a lot more freedom to do what they want with the Mass Effect universe after the trilogy. If Shepard survives then it's Halo all over again - with the money men pushing the idea that it's not a 'proper' Halo game unless the Master Chief is the lead.

Bioware have a very successful sci-fi IP on their hands - one that they don't have to pay licencing rights to LucasArts to use. They'd be crazy to let that go, but if Shepard lives they'll have to deal with a fanbase that will, as fans do, hang onto their ME3 save game files in anticipation of Shepard's return.

Although if you're cynical, you might say that that's exactly why they wouldn't kill off Shepard. Money in the bank, as it were.
or they can make it so he unable to lead in any capacity (make him the new Anderson) and have the next main character be one of his companion's children.(or hell his or her own) would make it allot more fun:)
