I pay about AUD$1.30 per litre here. I pay about $70 for a full tank, and I do about $50 for my standard fill.

We all know that it's hilariously expensive for an 18 year old to insure a car, even though it?s a 1.4 Ford Fiesta!
How bad is it these days?
For a 2010 1.4 Ford Fiesta 5dr in black..............Just under £3000.

IT DOESN'T EVEN HAVE ALLOYS.

Wow, I thought my $3400 (£2200) was outrageous, I have a '97 Mazda Protege. Since I've gotten it I've paid about 1.5 times its value in insurance.

£3000...ouch. OK so it is brand new but the insurance cost is less about the value of your car and more about personal injury claims. Hooray for the "no win, no fee" lawyers and the insurers who know that - while there may not be genuine fault - it is cheaper to pay a settlement than to fight it out. A "Whiplash" was worth a £1000 settlement 15 years ago, hate to think the value now.

I bloody hate insurance companies.

Another reason why my insurance is so high is because of where i live, Belfast. Not in the nice part of it either, within walking distance of Ardoyne where all that rioting was happening over the 11th-12th of July.

They have more ridiculous taxes on their stuff.

True. Between fuel duty and VAT about 70% of the cost of petrol is tax.

I pay right around the same amount for a US gallon (as previously stated just under 3.8 liters) that the OP pays per liter.

I'm pretty sure your high gas prices compared to ours is entirely a function of taxation.
Our taxes on gas are lower here.

$1.40/L, last fill.

1.40 AUD = 1.22893 USD
= 0.799529 GBP
= 0.946078 EUR
= 0.00266080 XPD

I remember going through the economics of it, and when it came down to it the big issue was the lack of competition between major petrol companies operating in Australia. Its effectively an oligarchy keeping the prices high (not uncommon for a country so isolated from its major trading partners). But hey, let's face it, America is still the world's economic punching bag so I'll blame you guys anyway.

It's true, we use oil to water our gardens. It may be toxic, but at least the unwashed masses don't get any gasoline. You read nothing.

Let's see... Payed about $25/10 gallons

So about $2.50/Gallon.

Also, since location is a big part of price, I live in Gulf-Coast Texas.

No of course I didn't... I might just have to visit the USA... with a lighter and a box of matches...
