It's true, we use oil to water our gardens. It may be toxic, but at least the unwashed masses don't get any gasoline. You read nothing.
No of course I didn't... I might just have to visit the USA... with a lighter and a box of matches...
Crude oil doesn't burn well.

You get enough of it, it doesn't matter how well it burns. And you have raised suspicions that there might be enough to try.

It's not that much, we barely get any oil. Saudi Aramco doesn't export jack squat...

Isn't that why Bush went looking for WMDs in Iraq? Or why BP's drilling in the Mexican gulf?

You should probably convert to gallons as well for Americans' sake. There are about 3.8 litres in a gallon. So that's about $7.06 per gallon.

I think it's about $2.50/gallon here. That's about 43 pence per litre.
Edit: Revised figures after some Googling.
thats like.. nothing Xd why do americans for flips sake pay that little for their fuel while they are the biggest fuel guzzlers around XD

Well, in the fashion that is so common these days, I suggest directing blame on the Saudis. If those bastards gave you more oil, Iraq would not have been invaded and America would be popular again.

I think about half of what British people pay is taxes, so it's not as far off as it seems.
Edit: Ninja'd.

British tax rates on petrol in the U.S. would probably put scores of people into de facto poverty.

I'm listening. I know you're lying but that's not the point. The point is, I'm listening and helping spread the word.

That's right! Those Saudi-Aramco pricks are causing artificial shortages! It's not our fault!

Where I am at the moment (Southern Spain) diesel is cheaper than petrol, just under the 1? mark. petrol is something like ?1.07 (95 that is). Saying that Gibraltar isn't too far from where we are (like 2 hour's drive) and petrol is like £0.60 there since there is no tax so when we go down to Morrison's every now and then (only thing that makes Gibraltar worth going to since it is a shit hole and the Spanish supermarkets DON'T HAVE CRUNCHY NUT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (or proper milk for that matter)) we just fill up there when we can.

Half of what u pay, but get half the gas mileage. Therefore, we pay the same amount for car fuel.
